"There have to be more around here." Miranda shook her head and cocked the gun.
"Nice shoot'n Tex" Morgan teased. Miranda replied with a cute smile.
"Wait a second... Where's Gavin?" I was curious as to why he wasn't in the car.
Morgan dropped his jaw. "Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. We didn't all fit in the car so he took a motorcycle."
"A what?"
As I spoke, I heard a humming down the road. The humming grew louder and louder until we spotted a blood red, silver engine motorcycle zooming towards us. It slowed as it neared and finally made a stop at us.
"Sorry I'm late. There was a cop car about a mile back. Gathered some stuff." Gavin took a knapsack off his back and emptied the contents. Out across the road fell a Glock 17 and some clips for it, a taser, small bottle of pepper spray, two pairs of hand cuffs, and a pair of shimmering, golden brass knuckles.
I scanned over the items. "Great work Gavin." I grabbed the pistol and slid it into my pocket, then left the taser and pepper spray to Morgan. I figured Gavin would take the brass knuckles, and I placed the hand cuffs in Morgan's bag. "We should probably find food."
There was a gargling sound behind me, like someone choking. But not a cough, just liquid rolling deep in someones throat. I turned around to see what it was.
There was a tall man standing there. He looked pale but other than that, he had no scratches or bruises of any kind.
"Are you okay sir?" Asked Miranda, but the man just continued to make the gargling sound. Nick had jumped out of the trunk to see what was going on.
"Whats up guys?" Asked Nick, then he looked to the little girl. "Whoa! What the hell guys, you hit a little kid."
"Shut up Nick." I shushed him. The man at the end of the road turned to us., then he opened his jaw wide, and let out a gruesome bellowing roar. "No one move."
The man stared at us a moment more, then looked down.
"Do you think he's a zombie too?" Asked Morgan.
"Z-z-zombie?" Nick looked again at the girl in the road.
"Probably." I nodded. I reached for the gun in my pocket.
The creature looked up at me, then let out another deep cry, then charged for us. I let off a few shots from the pistol but I began to run. Morgan and Nick followed, but Gavin remained.
The man sprinted straight for Gavin. "What are you doing idiot?" Called Nick, but Gavin stood his ground.
The zombie ran right up in front of Gavin and stopped. Just in front of Gavin's face, he let out another roar. Gavin stopped him by delivering a punch with the brass knuckled. The zombies jaw ripped from its face and he fell to the ground.
Gavin pounded his hands down on the front of his thighs and exclaimed "Suck it bitch!" The man tried to stand once more but Gavin offered a blow to the stomach.
I chuckled for a moment. Morgan started laughing hysterically, his voice cracking the entire time.
The gargling sound was intensifying. "Shut him up Gavin!" I shouted.
"Thats not coming from him." Gavin said quietly.
"What?" I asked, now very concerned.
"There are more of them. We have to go." Morgan stood up from where we were. "We have to go now."
"He's right" Nick stood as well.
I stood up slowly and made my way for the car. "Gavin! Get your cycle, we're moving, now!"
He nodded. "Got it."
Miranda moved to the back seat with the other girls. I jumped in the passenger seat beside Morgan.
"Whats with all the shooting?" Asked Sam.
I turned around. "Zombies."
"Dude, thats just like Call of Duty!" Angela exclaimed.
Morgan turned around. "I know! Thats what I said."
People began to approach the car as the rest of us ranted about zombies. Gavin sped off down the road.
"So are they like, coming for our brains?" Asked kyra.
"I'm not sure." I answered. "But one tried to eat Morgan."
"Guys..." Emilee whispered, but no one heard her. We all continued.
Sam smiled. "Tried to eat him? No way."
"Yes way." Morgan replied. "It was like biting at me and trying to grab me"
"Guys..." Emilee said again, this time a bit louder, but still no one paid any attention. She was staring blank faced out the window.
"But luckily I came out with a gun." Miranda paraded herself.
"Yeah, she saved me." Morgan nodded.
Kyra and Angela looked at each other "Thats so cool."
"So, is 'it' dead" asked Sam.
I looked at Morgan "One or two of them anyway."
"Guys!" Emilee shouted.
"What is it?" Asked kyra.
She pointed out the window. As she did, there was a banging at the door. Morgan rolled down his window. A hand burst in. He quickly rolled it up. The hand was caught, blocking the window from closing all the way. He squealed.
"Start the car!" I shouted.
He twisted the key several times. "It won't start." The car revved up, the stalled out like a horse crying a neigh.
He tried to take the ket out, but the handle broke off and left the actual key end in the ignition. He stared at it a moment, his jaw dropped.
"Oh shit." He mumbled
I rolled my eyes. "Damn it!" I reached into Morgans pocket and took out the taser, then shoved it in the ignition, and flicked the trigger. There was a clicking sound and blue sparks but the car started.
The zombies continued to pound on the car and windows were starting to crack.
"I didn't think that would work." I laughed.
Morgan sat still, still worrying over the hand hanging in his window.
"Drive dumb ass!" Emilee took charge very fast. Morgan shook his head, closed his eyes and shoved his foot on the gas pedal, screaming as he did so. "Fuuuuuuuuuck!" He shouted. The hand in his window ripped off and started to crawl up his shirt.
I grabbed it and threw it out the window. Morgan turned on the wind shield wipers to get the blood of his window. As he did, he saw body after body flip over the hood of his car and splat on his windshield.
"These were once people" kyra whispered. "Good people. People with families."
"This is a mess." I shook my head.
