The sky was no longer the red or orange it had been back where we started. Now it took on a grayish tint. The world was dead. At least where we were it was. And it wasn't getting any better.

I was nearly shaking in the front seat after watching a close friend die in such a way. It was horrific. Gruesome. Almost as bad as when Nate had been lashed through his chest. I had began a little over a week ago in a nice blue shirt and khaki shorts. Now my sleeves had been torn off, my shirt was burned in several places and drenched in blood, especially down my back. My pants had a tear all the way from the pocket to the bottom and were splattered with drops of blood.

I ran my hands through my hair. I was so stressed out. I had an enormous head ache and felt like I was gonna throw up. Tears watered my eyes, but instead of sadness, it was pure stress.

I rubbed my eyes and stroked my face. I had small, prickly hairs down my sideburns. I looked at my left hand. It was throbbing and there was blood forming around the bone. The shoelace was the only think stunting my from bleeding out.

I cracked my knuckles and looked at Sadie. She seemed very aware of her surroundings, and scanned the road frequently. We passed many tall buildings. Most of them with broken windows. I looked up at the towering buildings, like the trees in the spider forest.

The sky seemed to raise as I looked up. Buildings grew and clouds got smaller. I felt a deep pain in my stomach. Low, but rising.

"Stop the car..." I mumbled, but words were not very clear. I was shaking and muttering words. "STOP THE CAR!" I shouted. I swung the door open while the car was still moving. I jumped out onto the road, that ran past like a treadmill.

I rolled across the ground, cutting and scraping my arms. Blood dripped from my bottom lip and my head throbbed. I choked a moment and threw up an orange liquid with traces of cherry red blood across the road.

I stood up and held my head. When I opened my eyes, I was in the grass. Zombies were surrounding me. I pulled the pistol from my pocket and opened fire. I could hear the others mumbling to each other.

"What the hell is he doing?"

"What is he firing at?"

"Is he okay?"

A million questions rolled off the tongues of my friends. But the zombies seemed to get closer and closer. I fired more shots, wondering why my friends did not approach to help me. I ran. I ran through the crowd of zombies, firing as I went.

Sadie walked up to me, put her hand on the side of my face, and kissed me. I opened my eyes, and looked to my group of friends, about twenty feet away. Sadie was with them. I looked
forward and Sadie was gone.

I could hear laughing. It would appear in short bursts, then elongate. The sky went black and birds flew past. I saw Angela walking in a white dress. I followed her as she walked around the building. She turned around, the pale white face and blackened eyes. Then the dress fell to the ground, bodiless.

I put my hands on the side if my head and yanked at my hair. I fell to my knees in rage and began to rip out the grass. Then the zombies swarmed me once more. I ran into the center of the road, firing in all directions. When reached the center if the road, all the zombies disappeared. My head ache was gone and I was no longer shaking.

I lowered my gun, but in the distance, I saw a dust cloud. Very small riding down the road. Then I recognized the sound of a motorcycle.

"Ian!" Shouted Kyra.

I rose the gun in line with the figure, and began to run towards it.
"Not today mother fucker... Not today!"

I opened fire. Shot after shot. The figure flipped off the motorcycle and fell on its back.

I sprinted towards it. When I finally reached the strange figure, I saw it was Ian. I smiled a moment and blood dripped from my mouth. But the figure was not disappearing as the rest did. No. Ian was still there. Six bullet holes in his chest. Blood spilling across the road.

"What are you doing?!" Shouted Morgan.

Everyone ran up behind me. Gavin spun me around and jabbed the taser into my side. All went black.

I woke up. I was lying down, staring at the sheet metal ceiling in the back end of the truck. Into my vision, I spotted Sadie. She was sitting behind me, with my head resting on her legs.

"Are you alright?" She asked.

"What..." I squinted. "What happened?"

She handed me a water bottle. "It seems like you were hallucinating, due to dehydration or over stressing your self." She ran her hand through my hair softly.

"Did I.... Kill..." I was trying to finish my sentence, but there was no need. The look in her eyes said it all. I had killed Ian.

"But it's not your fault. You didn't know any better." She smiled. "I heard about your plan to save is all."

I sat up and stretched. "It wasn't really 'My' plan. Josh did most of it."

She got closer to me. "Still pretty heroic."

"I'm just doing the right thing." I shrugged.

She leaned in even closer and put her hand on my leg. "You're doing something right." She smirked. "Keep doing it." I closed my eyes and our lips touched.
