prompt: part 2 of the previous chapter!!

"you WHAT??"
natalie practically screamed.

"shhh!!! i said not to freak out!!!"
[name] shushed.

"sorry, but you overheard us making fun of david for having a crush on you?"
natalie questioned in a loud whisper.

"maybe...it was hard not to! you guys were yelling it so loud!!"
[name] remarked.

natalie groaned, rubbing her hand over her face,
"davids gonna kill us if he knows that you know. you probably don't even like him and he's gonna die alone."

"that's not...exactly the case."
[name] blushed.

"you like david??"
natalie asked eagerly.

[name] nodded simply, and a smile slowly formed on her face

natalie also smiled and began to celebrate.
"yes! matchmaker time!!"

"what? no no no, that's completely fine, nat. i think i can do this myself."
[name] chuckled slightly.

later.

"hey [nickname]!"
david happily greeted, as he walked into [name]'s apartment.

"oh! hey dave!"
she giggled, as she grabbed her cup of coffee from the coffee maker.

she slowly sipped her coffee, quickly realizing how bitter it was. she grabbed some creamer/sugar/milk and poured a lot into her coffee. david laughed at her.

"quit making fun of me."
she pouted.

"i'm not,"
david said, continuing to laugh,
"it's just funny."

she sipped her coffee, now that it was perfect, and spoke.
"what're you doing here so early?"
she questioned curiously.

"can't i see my best friend?"
david said innocently.

[name] gave him a "bitch please" look.

"fine...i needed to ask you something..."

[name] cocked her head at david, signaling him to continue.

"i-uh..."
david stuttered.

was this it? was david really going to ask the girl of his dreams out? he planned on being smooth and charming, expecting the situation to go something like this:

"hey cutie, wanna go to the cheesecake factory tonight? just me, you, and a shit ton of food"
he winked.

"oh my goodness yes! oh yes david! i've been waiting for the day you would ask me out!!!"
[name] swooned as david ripped off his shirt, revealing his ripped and bulging muscles.

he flexes and [name] passed out from him being just too hot.

yeah....that seems a bit unreasonable.

"if- you maybe wanted to... go eat breakfast with me?"
david felt so defeated. they always go on friendly breakfast "dates" together, every monday morning!

"but today's friday, dave? are you a bit confused?"
[name] asked, sort of worried.

"no, no i'm fine. i was just wanting some breakfast and decided to ask you to come along."
he smiled shyly.

"id love to dave! just lemme finish my coffee and we can go! i've actually been craving some avocado toast. i just keep forgetting to buy bread."
[name] smiled.

"bread? you don't have any bread at all?"
david questioned.

"yeah i keep buying avocados and forgetting to buy bread. i have like 7 avocados in my kitchen right now."
she giggled.

"what the fuck?"
david mumbled.

they both started laughing.

woop. woop.

they walked inside the café and sat down in a cute little booth. they ordered their food and talked while they waited.

"hey, i've been meaning to tell you something."
[name] shyly brought up.

"hm?"

"so....i may or may not have heard you...confesstoeveryonethatyouhaveacrushonme."
she rushed.

the waiter came by and set down their food.

"what?"
david chuckled slightly.

"i heard you tell everyone that you had a crush on me"
she mumbled quietly.

david immediately stopped what he was doing and his eyes widened, his heart stopping.

"but-but!!"

"i-i [name] i'm sorry if i made you feel uncomfortable i just kinda slipped and it was meant to be a secret because i know you would never like me like that—"

"dave."

"but it's hard not to like you because you're super pretty and nice and perfect and you're literally my dream girl but i know you don't like me and that's okay because i respect your opinion but—"

"david."

"but i couldn't keep it a secret for much longer and i know if i didn't tell someone eventually i would die on the inside—"

"david!"
she yelled.

david immediately stopped rambling and sat there quietly, awaiting rejection.

"i-i like you too"

"yeah, i figured. don't worry i respect your opinion— wait, you...like me back?"
he questioned hopefully.

[name] simply nodded her head, fighting back a grin.

davids smile grew and grew up to his eyes.

"then you wouldn't mind me asking you to dinner tonight?"

"not at all!"
she smirked.

"then it's a date."
david grinned widely.
