Coronation (Mel's Pov)

The day before coronation was honestly a mess, no one would pay attention to the teachers at all, they were all busy talking about their dates or their dresses. The teachers were all attempting to get their classes to pay attention, and there were a lot of girls who weren't even in class. After school, nate brought the dress over for me to try on, almost all the way done, thank goodness it fit, and I loved it. He also showed me the backup dress but he told me we could always use it for something else. By the time he had left to finish it up it was night time, and none of the girls were there because they all went to get their dresses last minute. I decided I was bored and that I would wander the halls for a bit. 

I find myself at the kitchen, when I go inside mal is there. "What are you doing?" I ask her. She looks up at me and pats the stool beside her. "I'm making an anti love potion, you know for ben." She explains and I nod sullenly. "What's a matter Mels?" She asks. I start to talk about how ben treats me, how amazing he is and how I think I've fallen for him. "I just, I hope he doesn't hate me once he realises that he was only into me because of the love potion." I explain as I start to cry. Mal wipes the tears from my eyes comfortingly. "If he does he isn't worth your time. And just so you know whatever happens I'll be there for you every step of the way." She assures me. "I know you are mal, you've been with me for everything since day one." I reply with a small smile. When I leave the kitchen I make my way back to my room.

I wake up early to the sound of trin, lyssia, and faith singing a song. "Morning girl, get up. Nate dropped the dress off for you to get ready." Trin says when she sees me sit up. I get up and put the dress on. "Now let's do makeup." Trin says, sitting me down and setting out the makeup on the table beside me. She finishes and shows me, It looks natural, like I have no makeup on except the gloss on my lips. "Now for your hair." Lyssia and faith say in unison. When they finish my hair is in an elegant updo and two curled tendrils frame my face. Nate and kurt come in in their tuxes with grins on their faces. "Here are the heels for that darling." Nate says holding a pair of strappy gold heels. "And here is a necklace, bracelet, and earrings that I made to go along with the dress." Kurt says holding up a little baggie. I put the heels and jewelry on and look at myself in the mirror. "Que bonita, look at you." Nate muses with a grin. "Wait till ben sees you." Lyssia teases. Trin wolf whistles. 

"I'm gonna go check in on evie and mal. See you at coronation." I tell them and they wave me off. When evie opens the door she's wearing a blue dress with lace. "Wow, you look gorgeous." She compliments as the steps aside for me to go in. Jay, carlos, and mal all stop what they're doing when they see me. "Okay if you weren't dating ben I'd totally date you." Carlos says, walking a circle around me. "Hey eyes off." Evie scolds teasingly. "As your older brother figure, you need to cover up. And as your friend, You look amazing. But as a random stranger... Hey." Jay lists off with a smirk. Mal elbows him and he tells her he was kidding about that last part. "Mel, You look so grown up and beautiful. I say this with the greatest intention in mind, stop growing and cover up." She tells me with a laugh.

"Look at me? Look at you all. Mal and eve's you look beautiful in those dresses. Love your designs eve's. Boys you two clean up nicely. You look almost handsome jay." I tell them with a grin. Jay yelps indignantly at that comment. "And carlos you always look handsome, trust me if ben hates me after this you're the first on my list." I say and he gives a sympathetic smile.

"Alright, here's the muffin all wrapped up. Give it to him and tell him its for after the ceremony." Mal instructs, tossing me a little red box. "I'll see you all after coronation and whatever happens promise me you'll all still stay by my side." I tell them. They promise and I head over to the carriages with mal. Ben greets us with a smile and when mal gets in the carriage behind ben and I's ben turns to me and says, "You look absolutely stunning." as he helps me into the carriage. We start moving when everyone takes their places. When we get on the main street I give him the muffin. "It's just a little snack for after coronation." I say and he opens it. He picks up the muffin and bites into it. "Do you feel anything? Any different? About me maybe?" I ask panickedly. "I don't know, maybe we should let the anti love potion go into effect." He says and I nod in relief.

 I process what he said and then look up at him in shock. ""You knew?! And you're not mad at me?!" I ask and he chuckles. "Our first date, the enchanted lake washed off the spelI know you didn't do it, your sister did it to make you happy. You had a crush on me and I was with audrey so your sister wanted to help us get together. I'm not mad at either of you." He says. "So what? You've just been faking it this entire time?" I ask semi hurt. "I could never fake it, I really do think you're the one I could spend my life with. And I think we would've gotten together even without the love spell." He tells me and I smile up at him softly. "I want you to wear this." He adds, giving me his ring. I let him slip it on my ring finger. He kisses my hand before getting out and helping me out. In the church, I stand off to the side, just off the stairs with mal and ben's parents stand on the top of the stairs waiting for their son.

 Ben walks up to the stairs and kneels down. Fairy godmother takes the crown off ben's father and brings it over to place on ben's head. Then ben's parents take the wand out of the case and present it to fairy godmother. She brings it over to ben, holds it out and asks, "Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" "I do solemnly swear." Ben answers and fairy godmother taps his shoulders with the wand. "Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king." Just as fairy godmother is finishing her sentence a hand reaches out and snatches the wand from fairy godmother, it's jane. "If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself." She tells fairy godmother as she struggles with the magic. 

Mal grabs ahold of the wand and tugs it out of jane's hand. Mal then holds it out threateningly. "Give me the wand mal." Fairy godmother says. "Mal don't do this." Ben pleas. "I have no choice, my mother will-" "Your mother made her choice. That's why she's on the isle." Ben cuts her off with. "Mal, guys, we don't have to do this, we don't have to chose this. This is not what makes you happy, it's what you think will make our parents happy with us." I start and mal looks at me. "You don't know that." Mal argues. "Yes, I do. Mal being with jay and baking makes you happy. Carlos scratching dude's belly makes you happy. Jay, victory pizza with the team and spending time with mal makes you happy. Eve's school and fashion make you happy. And me, well, hanging out with my friends and being with ben makes me really really happy." I say turning to ben and smiling at him. "I chose to stay here and go to school. Are you with me?" I ask putting my hand out in front of me. "I always am, and I always will be." Mal says putting her hand on top of mine. Jay puts his hand in and then evie follows. "So just to be clear we're not gonna worry about our parents? Cause they're gonna be mad." Carlos asks. "Your parents can't hurt you here." Ben assures him. Carlos puts his hand in and mal starts to give fairy godmother her wand back.
