Sighing you reloaded your gun and reset the target. A case that ended badly had you to mad to sleep. Pulling the trigger you smiled as you hit the target dead in the center. Hitting the target a few more times you smile grew bigger. When you were out you set your handgun down and took out your earplugs. Releasing the target from the back wall you smiled as you your shots were dead center.
Packing up your stuff you turned to put everything in the case and jumped back at the sight of Spencer sitting in a chair. " what are you doing out here I thought you were asleep?" you asked as you put your target on the wall by the gun vault. " I could ask you the same thing, Mrs. Reid," Spencer said as he stood up making his way over to where you stood. Fighting back tears you looked at the floor before answering " I couldn't sleep so I decided to do some target practice," Realization crossed the coffee-colored eyes of your husband. Instantly he wrapped you in a warm hug as he searched for the right words. Clinging to him you listened to his heartbeat. " Babe let's get in the house and we can talk about what your feeling," Spencer suggested as he turned to walk you both to the house. Nodding you followed Spencer into the house, stopping to lock the back door and setting the alarm. Spencer turned the kitchen light on as he set everything up for some coffee. Leaning against the counter you let a few tears fall as you looked at your shaking hands. " Spence I don't think I can keep doing this job," you trembled out as you sat down. Turning to face you Spencer frowned as he watched a tear fall on the counter. " Babe you are just saying that because of the last case," he said as he stepped forward wiping your tears away. " baby we tried everything to save that little boy," Spencer whispered as he pulled you into his chest. " We should have tried harder," you sobbed as you closed your eyes. The beeping of the coffee machine had you pulling back, glancing at Spencer. Sitting on the stool you watched as he made the mugs up and set yours in front of you. Sitting in front of you Spencer sipped his coffee before saying " I know it's hard but we did all we could, trust me I know how hard it is," nodding along you gazed into your coffee trying to stop the tears. getting up from his stool Spencer made his way to the bedroom and retrieved a small box. Making his way back he stood behind you as he hid the box. " What is that Spence?" you asked as you turned to get a better look. " Just close your eyes and hold out your hand," He cooed as he smiled slightly.
Closing your eyes and holding out your hand, you smiled. Setting something furry in your hands, Spencer smiled as he took a step closer. " Open it, baby," he said as he waited for your response. Opening your eyes you gazed at a soft teddy bear with a sign. " What's this for babe?" you asked as you studied the bear. Spencer smiled as he read the small sign," 1 + 1+ 1= 3" Confused you studied your husband before he got up and made his way to the living room where he picked up a small puppy. " I got her for when the days get hard for you," Spencer said as he handed the sleepy puppy to you. Smiling you held her close and stroked her beautiful white fur. " When did you get her?" you asked softly not to wake the puppy. " Derek dropped her off a few hours ago," he said as he watched you smile and pet the pup. " Does she have a name?" you asked as you kissed his cheek. Shaking his head you smiled as you thought of names. Nothing seemed to fit the small white pup, so you asked Spencer to come up with a name.
Thinking for a moment he said: " How about Raina?" Smiling you nodded before you kissed the puppy's head. Spencer smiled as he embraced you holding you close. " Thanks, babe I love how you always know how to ease my mind and my heart," you whispered as you set the puppy in her bed. Picking you up bridal style he carried you to the bedroom. Quickly you changed into your pajamas and climbed into bed. " I will always do what I can to make you happy now and forever," Spencer whispered as he pulled you close. Smiling you kissed his cheek as you snuggled in his arms. " How did I get so lucky?" you whispered as you closed your eyes the grip of sleep growing stronger. " I ask myself that all the time," Spencer mumbled as he kissed your forehead. Soon he drifted off to sleep with the sound of your heartbeat.
