Memories

Percy didn't like him. He just didn't. Luke still had that aura around him that made Percy's suspicion that he was trouble even more confident. It had started, all the way back, in 10th Grade. And he still felt that twinge of suspicion every time he saw Luke.

Percy tried to shrug it off but he couldn't as the image of Annabeth grabbing Luke's wrist and dragging him away. Percy wasn't sure about Annabeth and Luke's relationship, but he knew one of thing for sure. They were definitely closer than Percy currently was with Annabeth.

He felt a strange feeling. He didn't know what to call it. As soon as he saw Annabeth, he seemed to have lost all ways to speak. He had just been doing the basic function for humans: breathing.

What was going on?

And so, Percy convinced himself. It was all because he'd seen someone who used to be his best friend.

Nothing more.

But a teeny tiny voice inside Percy screamed, LIES!
Percy hated that voice.

No matter how much he tried to look away, he'd always end up looking back at Annabeth. Seeing her laugh and smile cheerfully.

Something she never did when I last met her.
To say the truth, I had been the one who made her cry.
And Annabeth shouldn't cry.

Percy groaned in frustration as he felt weird. Very weird.
Every time he looked at Annabeth, his stomach seemed to release a dozen butterflies and Percy felt incredibly nervous. He'd only been like this before with...with Calypso. But, unlike with Calypso, he couldn't accept the fact. He couldn't. Why, why not, he didn't have a clue.

But he just didn't.

Percy slammed his hand against the table in a fit of rage. Then he immediately pulled it back, wincing in pain as he blew on it, trying to lessen it. He looked around, trying to find water or anything that could relieve the pain.

"Here," he heard a voice say from behind him. He turned to see Annabeth holding a tissue and a glass of water. She was looking straight at him.

Just seeing those stormy grey eyes made him all jittery and nervous once more. Percy continued to stare at her for what seemed, like, forever.

Annabeth cleared her throat, jolting Percy out of his daze. She dipped the tissue in the water. "Hold your hand out," she said, a stiff undertone in her voice. Percy did as he was told. Annabeth carefully pressed the tissue against his palm before spreading the cool tissue to his fingers. "Why did you do this?" Annabeth asked, quietly, as she turned his hand around and pressed the tissue down once more.

"Oh, nothing really, just..um, banged it by accident..?" He lied, hoping she would believe it.

But no, she was Annabeth Chase. And she was a brainiac. "You're lying," Annabeth said, with a sigh, pressing the tissue down, then moving it in a circular pattern. She continued to do it for a bit more, not asking anymore questions, then pulled her hand away from his.

"Can we forget about everything that happened?" Percy blurted out, out of the blue.

"What?" She asked, a tinge of confusion present in her voice.
