Annabeth didn't talk to anyone. For days. For weeks. The only person she ever talked to was Percy. He was the only one who could handle her. That day at the hospital, when she saw her mother's dead body, she had a mental breakdown. Percy held her while she cried and sobbed. Soon, they moved back into Sally and Paul's house, Annabeth sleeping in Percy's old bedroom and Percy sleeping in a couch in the living room. Annabeth protested weakly but Sally wouldn't here it. She was too heartbroken by the death of her close friend and she wished to take care of Annabeth. Percy would be the one who would bring Annabeth food and water.

"Why can't I just die?" Annabeth asked one day, making Percy mad.

He sat next to her and made her lie on his lap. "Because, Wise Girl," He said, stroking her hair. "You aren't alone. We're all there for you. Mom's there, Paul's there, the twins are there, all our friends are there. We all love you. I love you."

She was thankful for him. If he wasn't there, Annabeth didn't know what she would have done. She'd spent days, letting it slowly sink in that her mom was dead and crying. It took her time. Lots of time.

Getting over your mother's death wasn't easy.

"Hey," Percy said, walking in. "You okay?" He asked, looking at Annabeth who was thinking about all of this.

Then there was Percy. She didn't know where they stood at the moment. It had been weeks since their confessions at the hospital. Annabeth loved him, she was sure about that. But how could they take the next step when she was like this? Percy gave her space. He didn't pressurize her and she was very thankful for that.

"Well would you like to hear the truth or the lie that would make you happy?" Annabeth asked, looking up at him while he sat down in the bed next to her.

Percy intertwined his fingers with hers. "Tell me what you feel, tell me the truth," he said, giving her hand a squeeze.

"I'm..so not okay," Annabeth said, giving bitter laugh at the end. "This world sucks."

"Yeah," Percy said, with a grimace. Annabeth stared out of the window. He gently and slowly turned her face towards his. "But just remember," he began. "I'm always, always here for you. You're not alone." He kissed her forehead making butterflies erupt in her stomach.

"Thanks, Percy," She said. She looked briefly at their clasped hands. "You probably think I'm pathetic, don't you?"

"How could I?" Percy said, leaning his head against hers. "I'll love you and support you no matter what."
