"Do you think Layla will get mad at me?" Jimin asked his friend who was sitting across from him.
"For God's sake, you asked this question a hundred times," Tae complained. "Yes, she will get angry, maybe even hate you. She'll keep saying no, no, no, but at the end she'll agree on the duet. This is how girls are."
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Jimin asked after he comprehended Taehyung's words.
Tae shrugged. "I don't know."
"What are you guys talking about?" Jinny's voice sounded.
They both turned to see Jinny and Jungkook walking towards them. Jinny sat beside Jimin, just for the sake to stay away from her brother, while Jungkook sat beside Tae.
"None of your business," Tae snapped at her.
She literally threw half of her body over the table to take two of Tae's cookies.
"Hey! These are mine! Give them back!" Tae said.
"You have the whole pack of cookies! Stop being so selfish."
"Hey, Jin-seon," Jimin called Jinny's attention. "Uh...if there's someone who doesn't like something, but you let them participate in this something. Does that mean you're in trouble?"
"Huh? I don't understand anything."
"Let us say that for example, Layla hates singing, but I recommended her for a duet. Then - will she be mad?"
"You want to recommend Layla for a duet?" Jinny half-screamed.
"He already did," Tae muttered.
"WHAT!" Jinny shrieked.
"Lower your voice," Tae hissed as other students started to look at them.
"Hey, you encouraged me," Jimin accused Taehyung.
"Because you kept asking me if you should perform with Layla and you couldn't shut up for five minutes," Tae said as the bell rang.
"Ugh, back to classes," Jinny groaned before stuffing a cookie in her mouth.
The four of them stood up along with the other students, walking to their next classes when a shrill sound stopped them.
"PARK JIMIN!!!"
"Uh oh," Jimin muttered when he recognised the voice.
A furious-looking Layla was stomping towards them, not caring how many people are staring at her. Her face was a fierce mixture between anger and determination.
"We need to talk." Layla's tone explained how angry she was. She sounded like she'd murder someone right there on the spot.
"The bell rang so I have to go to class," Jimin said in an attempt to get away.
"Talk first then class!"
"I have a test. I have to go," Jimin lied and dragged Tae by the arm to their class, hoping he wouldn't bump into Layla again until she calmed down.
"I'll be waiting in the parking lot and you better be there!" Layla shouted after him.
"Whoa, you're so angry. What happened?" Jinny asked, smirking.
"Guess what? I get to perform a duet with Park Jimin in front of the whole school. Does that sound cool?"
Jungkook said "Yes." at the same time Jinny said "Nope!"
Layla stared at Jungkook. "What Yes? It easy for you to say, but I.Can't!Sing!!"
"Yes, you can. You're just not confident enough," Jungkook remarked.
Layla turned to Jinny for support.
"The dude's right," Jinny said. "You do have self-esteem problems. You can sing, and you sing beautifully."
"Are you trying to convince me that I'm able to sing?" Layla asked, faking a bored expression.
"Yep."
"Yeah, good luck then 'cause it won't work."

The day passed and eventually Layla found herself in the parking lot. She was much calmer now as she walked beside Jinny.
"Do you see Jimin?" Layla asked.
"You're not still intending on killing him, are you?" Jinny joked.
"Nah, I'm too lazy for that. I just need to have a word with him."
Layla spotted Jimin talking with one of his classmates. As much as she wanted to pull him from his pink hair, she proceeded to gently tap him on his shoulder.
Layla cleared her throat in a formal fashion and said, "I need to speak with you, mister."
Jimin frowned. "Ok."
He followed Layla to somewhere private, more accurately near the the corner of the school building. Layla rounded on him and said, "Ok, quick question. Why did you recommend me for the duet and why?"
Jimin resisted to tell her that she asked the same question twice and answered, "Because I wanted to perform something with you? Plus, to increase your self-confidence."
"Why didn't you ask me first?"
"Because you'd say no without even trying."
Layla covered her eyes with her hand in frustration.
"You okay?" Layla heard Simon's voice ask her softly.
"I'm fine." She removed her hand.
"At least give it a try," Jimin tried to convince her. "How bad can it be?"
"You know when you say this sentence in a movie things always become bad."
"Not this time. We're not in a movie. Just...try. And if you did bad, it won't matter. At least you tried."
Layla thought for some time then nodded. "Okay. I'll practice with you. If I did well, then I'll give it a try. If I sucked, then I won't risk humiliating myself."
"Okay, deal." Jimin beamed happily, and they shook hands.
