My breathing increased as the dog turned around and looked at me. It slowly got on all fours and I heard the low threatening growl of a scared and threatened dog. I stayed still. I couldn’t move. This dog looked just like the one that helped Michael and I…the growl was the same too. It walked slowly towards me with the growl increasing in volume. I made sounds like a rabid dog. I struggled to move my body…it was like my mind wasn’t letting me. As it got prepared to leap and rip me to shreds I was able to move my hand…slowly. I slowly crouched down and got to eye level.
“It’s ok…you don’t have to be afraid.” I said softly, steadying my voice as my head pounded trying to get me to go back to my previous position. I felt like my head was going to burst. The dog slowly stopped growling and looked at me with questioning eyes. It’s…ears, if you can call them that in which the state they were in, and it’s heart, which I could see through it’s exposed ribcage, slowed down.
It sniffed my open hand and sat down slowly while keeping an eye on me and the knife that I had in my hand. It licked my hand slightly and looked at me. It raised a paw and put it in my hand. The paw was basically all bone and it felt cold. I let the paw fall after a minute and I patted it’s head. I felt the pain in my head go away. I stood up and the tortured canine tugged at my pants lightly and led me to the corner. It motioned towards the board that was scratched and had blood around the deep scratches.
I knelt down and pried the board up…it revealed a revolver. I picked it up and looked back at the dog. It…looked like it was a normal dog. I looked back at the revel over and looked into the dark hole. I picked up a few rounds of bullets and loaded the revolver. I stood up and placed the other bullets in my pocket and put the knife somewhere safe. I felt the ground shake and I stepped back as the hole grew larger. It stopped growing and I looked down the dark abyss that had replaced the floor that was there moments before.
The next thing I knew…I was pushed into the abyss…and when I looked up I could swear that I saw a smirk on that dogs face.
