Neverending Nightmare

Chapter 4

I fell in the darkness for hours. Why did that dog push me? Would this be the end? Next thing I know I’m submerged. The water was freezing and I froze from the shock. I managed to move and tried to swim to the surface as I felt my lungs collapsing. I managed to get to the surface.

I breathed in deeply and I began to cough violently. I stopped after a minute and the darkness remained. I looked around as I breathed. I couldn’t see anything or…what I was even swimming in. Next thing I know I feel something slowly wrap around my ankle. I screamed and reached for my other foot. I grabbed the knife, put the gun into my boot and sliced at whatever had grabbed me in one motion. I felt the grasp loosen.

I then noticed two pure yellow orbs looking at me. I saw hatred and an animalistic desire to kill. It swam up after me. I then swam in a random direction, not knowing if I was heading towards land…or heading towards even more danger. I felt land after being chased for what felt like days. The orbs disappeared when I got to land. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light.

My eyes adjusted and I saw what I was swimming in. It was water. I noticed that I was in a cave. I then noticed the orbs again and they raced towards the surface. I was horrified when I saw it when it surfaced. It was blood red and was misshapen. It looked like a mixed of a squid and a great white. I heard a snapping and it’s…mouth…opened and it shrieked a unnatural noise. It had rows upon rows of razor sharp teeth. I raised a tentacle and swung it at me. I ducked before it hit me and it hit a stalagmite next to me. I looked at it and half of it slid and fell next to the stump that remained. Those tentacles could slice me in half before I could do anything.

I then ran for my life…as I saw it getting out of the water.
