“Oh, but Anna, harming you won’t do any good. I need to harm the ones you love in order to harm you. Now, you’ve tried my patience; make your choice.”
Have you ever stood outside and just stared out at the sky? Have you ever thought about how infinite it really is?
Have you ever felt like a speck in the world’s giant shadow?
Have you ever realized th-
“Anna,” a voice breaks my thought process.
I snap up from my notebook to see Nora Willkinson, one of my roommates. Yes, roommate.
Let’s just get this over with.
This entire universe used to be nothing. Everything we know of today didn’t exist – there was no sun, no Earth, no moon, no planets.
The universe was created by what people believe is the big bang. 10 to 20 billion years ago, everything in our universe was packed into a teeny-tiny volume.
Then it exploded. When this volume exploded, a single star was created and fell to what would become the Earth.
Okay, if you’re a person of religion or science or whatever, I totally respect that. You can believe what you want to believe. I’m just telling you what I believe, and in my world, it’s all true. In my world, this is our back-story.
So anyhoo, this star fell to the future Earth. Being made of, well, whatever stars are made of, it couldn’t survive to be a star on Earth and adapted into a human body.
This star was curious.
Curiosity plays a part in everyone’s fatal flaw. Especially the cat’s.
This star ate from the Tree of Life without permission and became female, as it brought sin into the world.
Once the star possessed knowledge it began to experiment and realized it had the power to control the stars.
The star wrote the stories behind the constellations and arranged the Zodiac. (Although future civilizations would do the same, today’s constellations stem from the fallen star’s.)
However, with great power comes great responsibility, and the star lost control. Upon losing control, the sky was plunged into disorder and therefore fell.
Yes, the sky can fall.
When the sky does fall, the constellations became the stories the star had made up. The constellations overran the Earth, and by the time it took for the star to regain control Earth was forever changed.
The star managed to put the constellations back in the sky, but Earth was still dramatically changed. Earth was suitable for life now. It had water and an atmosphere, everything life would need.
So humanity and civilization found its way onto the Earth, and the star’s mortal body passed away. The star’s power and knowledge found its way onto another female.
Every few centuries, the star would still lose control of its immense power. Losing control happened very rarely, but each time the sky fell Earth was forever changed, and not always for the better. The only other known time the sky has fallen is thought to have caused the Black Death.
During the Italian Renaissance, the star gave itself the name “The Enchantress” because of the power it possessed, and began using its powers for its own good. Ergo, the star began to practice evil. Each time the mortal body of the star passed away, its knowledge would be passed on for evil.
The Enchantress is forever. Her magic will never cease, and Her identity is unknown.
Phew. Okay, I know that’s a lot, so take a moment to let it sink in while I get a drink.
