Denise
Even as a new dawn has come and gone, I find myself still reeling and completely frustrated at the situation I walked into yesterday.
That bastard! That absolute bastard who had the nerve to chat me up knowing what he did to me! And then to feign like he didn't know it was me when we met!? Bastard.
I shove the last jacket I put on a hanger into the newly installed closet and slam it shut enraged.
How could I not have recognized his face it was plain as day! The scar, from the day we ventured into the main area of the park after he got into a fight trying to divert Kaden and his boys' attention away from where I was hiding, stood out clear as day on his eyebrow! The boyish way the right side of his lips would rise before the rest of his lips would whenever he flashed a smile, remained unchanged.
Admittedly I found him attractive, how couldn't I? He had obviously grown into his looks, and in the moment he genuinely seemed like the strong, smart and funny type that I melt into a Denise shaped puddle for...
But he just had to be Denver!
I pick up the last heavy box of clothing to fold and put in my second closet, before deciding to do it later, throwing it on to my bed and walking out of my bedroom towards the living room where I kept the mail deciding to busy myself with bills as my phone is currently charging and nothing good is on TV.
I look through my mail, seeing that my first demand for payment on water and electricity is due soon. When I'm finished flicking through the rest of the mail from other services as well as one from my grandmother who still prefers the old fashioned style of communication, I decide to sit on my couch and relax for a while. I take inventory of all the things left to do and am relieved when I notice most of the work is finished concerning my apartment having finally settled in with all my furniture intact, except for a china doll that my grandmother gave me that didn't make the journey being transported. When reclined I reach over for the handset on the side table and press the button on the handset that allows me to listen to my messages and hear the voice of my kindly Chinese landlord tell me that my first down payment on the apartment is also due soon, before wishing me a good morning and better day ahead.
With the down payment and other bills now preoccupying my thoughts, I remember that I'm still looking for jobs now that I've stopped my undergraduate schooling. Whilst studying, I was also working and had a job however it was only temporary, serving in the buildings café as well as other odd jobs around but it was fine since I stayed with my parents and thus didn't have to think about paying bills and my expenditure. Now that I've moved out and my time at the university is currently finished I understand that now is the best time to start looking for jobs that are a bit more substantial and well paid until and during my postgraduate degree to accommodate my new lifestyle.
I sigh deeply out of my mouth and fling the phone on to the side of the unoccupied couch. The thoughts of Denver and last night fly through my mind unwarrantedly now that I'm no longer distracted.
All these years and I can't even get a proper hello!? He just ups and leaves with his family and didn't think that I would have liked to have had a proper goodbye with my only friend.
I'll never forgive him.
My lamenting is cut short when I hear the melodious tune of my phone ringing back in my bedroom and head there to see who is calling.
BabyGirl!<3 is calling....
I answer the phone and wait for Ava's voice to flood through the speakers putting the phone on speaker so I can speak and move around.
