We were on our way to Ryucon when we were stopped at the gates

"damn they have some pretty tight security" I said

"yes with they unstable relationships with the surrounding countries"

but then when he showed them a wooden pass of some sort, we went through pretty easy when I asked what that was he said it was a merchant pass

"it should get you access to any major shipping port" he then followed that up with "five gold is a lot of money but it won't last you forever you look fit enough to be an adventurer you should go to the guild and see if you awaken any element affinities so you can become an adventurer"

I then said "okay, thank you"

he said "no problem" but that I would owe him a favor spoken like a true merchant in video games at least.

and we went to his shop I was looking at shops on the side of the street and it was written in some strange runic language that I didn't understand. It was way different to Japanese so I asked

"hey what's the strange written language in this place"

"oh your illiterate that's very surprising if u come from a faraway famous school that u said u were from" he says with a squint

"yeah that's not my country's written language"

"oh, I see that makes more sense" he says easing the tension between us

"I suggest you become literate if you are to be an adventurer" "there are plenty of tutors in this kingdom I suggest a guy named Kenchi Marimura, he's a jack of all trades mercenary even though he is pretty sketchy he's very powerful, but no one has actually seen him in battle, ever. But he always kills whatever he's told, for a fare bit of coin, and brings their heads as proof"

"so no one doubts him. It's said that he showed up here one day illiterate just like you and with just the clothes on his back so he might sympathize for you and maybe just maybe give you a discount."
