Adrian's POV:
I turned to the clock on the wall to see that it was time that I check up on my little angel. She's been here for a month without waking up at all. Everyday I hope that I would come home and she would be there, awake in the bed, waiting for me. That the moment I walked through the door she would come running into my arms like she was supposed to the day I met her. But My stupid Gamma ruined that for me and hurt my mate. Just the thought of Devin angers me and causes my wolf to growl. My mate wouldn't even be in this situation if it weren't for him!
Shaking the thought of Devin out of my head, I got up from my desk, left my office in the pack house, and shifted into my pitch-black wolf. I started running the mile of two between the pack house and my castle. Or, more realistically, the mile or two between myself and my mate.
The moment I stepped through the draw bridge gateway and onto my castle grounds, something didn't feel right. I shifted back into my human form, pulling on a pair of sweatpants that is always stored there, and sprinted up the stairs. I got the my room after the many flights of stairs and my blood started to boil. My mate is nowhere to be seen. She's not in the bed and her crutches are gone. I smelled the room. Her scent is so faint as if she has been gone for hours. And there is no other scent in the room indicating that she was kidnapped.
She ran away!
My wolf howled in pain not being able to bare our little angel leaving us. I let out a growl and stormed out of the castle, hoping to pick up a scent of her.
I need you to send trackers to look for your Luna Queen! I shouted to Matt through the mindlink. He immediately responded and I heard twelve trackers run towards me. I gave each other them a sample of her scent so they can tell me when they pick it up. We decided who was to search where and we broke off and shifted into our wolves.
I went to the east while the trackers split up in all the other directions.
Alpha King, I found her scent at the back route of the castle. One of my trackers linked me. I ran to the back side of the castle and saw that group of trackers were already following the scent while the others caught up. I picked up the scent as well, and I determined that the path lead to the pack border. My wolf and I started to panic. What if she gets hurt, or she gets captured by rouges. What if it rains and we loose her scent. What if she gets lost. What if she gets sick. What if she wanders into another pack's territory. I haven't marked her yet meaning I can't tell for sure if she left the territory yet and other packs won't be able to tell that she is my mate. Goddess, she might get kidnapped. Nobody touches what's MINE! My wolf growled at the thought that our little angel is vulnerable and in danger right now. Nobody is with her to protect her. We never want her to be in this situation ever again. We never want her to be in pain again.
"Alpha King, she left the territory!" The lead tracker shouted ahead of me as I was behind the trackers to keep them in eye's range. I wouldn't want them to find her and not tell me would I? However, in moments I sprinted past the trackers, sending them home through mindlink, and continued to follow the trail of her now more current scent until I reached a human town.
I slowed to a jog and shifted back into my human form, putting on jeans and a black t-shirt that are hidden in a tree near the human town. I continued to jog through the town, wanting to get to my little angel as fast as I can. Humans might not have the added strength of a werewolf, but they are just as cruel. My little angel is so weak, anything can hurt her.
I continued to follow her scent until I came to the Blue Cross Hospital.
Panicked, I stormed inside, scared for what might have happened to my mate while she was away from me. I ran past the receptionist who was yelling at me to wait in the waiting room. But I didn't care. She even threatened to call security, but I stationed the security in this hospital and other human incorporates so then I can do what I want when I need to. Even if there was a human as a security guard, I could beat them with a flick of my finger. So I continued to run through the halls, following her scent until I was in front of a semi-private room. Without hesitation, I kicked the door down, my wolf wanting to get to our mate as fast as possible. The next thing I see caused my wolf to push past the barrier I put up and take control of my body. My little angel is curled up in another man's lap. His filthy hand is stroking her beautiful, chestnut hair. I am the only person who can touch her! Nobody touches what is MINE!
I ran to my little angel, gently picked her up, not wanting to hurt her, and grabbed the him by the collar of his shirt, forcing him to the ground. I carefully placed my little angel back on the chair making sure that she is okay and safe, then turned around to kick the man. I kicked him and punched him until his blood became so excessive, that he was sitting in it. As the blood started to pool on the floor I heard a whimper that shattered my heart. My mate is scared. Ugh, I should have taken this outside so then she wouldn't have to see this. She's too pure to see something like this anyway.
"Ryan!" she screamed. I turned to her and saw tears running down her face. She then passed out and slumped back into the chair. There are little droplets of blood on her face that made its way to her from the man. My wolf growled at both the fact that she shouted another man's name and that there is blood on her.
"Lacey!" the man shouted. I turned to him, livid that he knows my little angel's name and I don't. He got up and rushed past me, causing me to get a whiff of his rouge scent, and went to my little angel. I let out a deathly growl and ripped him off her throwing him across the room so he would crash into the wall.
I cupped her face with my hand and put my thumb on her cheek wanting to wipe the blood off of it. I never want blood to stain her perfect, pale white skin. I wiped the blood, but it just smeared and my own bloody hands added more. She probably passed out from fear of seeing al of that blood.
But this never would have happened if that man didn't have MY mate in his lap. Her perfect body was on the body of that filthy rouge. This also would have never happened if she hadn't left the safety of my room in the castle in the first place.
Why would she leave?
Why is she in the hospital?
I turn around, to find a nurse no I can ask why my little angel is in the hospital, when I strip on a cord. I catch myself and turn to see where the cord connects to. I follow the cord to her arm where an IV is attached. I then see another cord that goes near her heart. I start to panic. Why does my mate have cords going in an out of her body, especially her heart!? What happened to her!? I wasn't there to protect her. The moment she gets home I'm locking her away in my room, never wanting her to be in danger ever again. She's my precious princess, my little angel, and nothing will hurt her ever again
I immediately turn around and press the nurse button that is next to the chair my little angel is sitting in. IN a matter or seconds, a nurse walks in and a worried look covers her face as she sees the man's, or "Ryan's", body all bloody on the floor. I can tell that the nurse is a rouge.
"What's going on?" she asks.
"He touched my mate," I answered. She nodded and started to walk closer to me and my little angel.
"Stay away from my mate, ROUGE!" I shouted, while stepping in front of my mate to keep her out of the view of the nurse. "I want her nurse," I commanded. She bowed her head in submission, but kept talking.
"With all due respect, Alpha King, I am Lacey's nurse," she said. I growled but I led her outside of the room after placing a light kiss on Lacey's forehead.
Once we got out of the room, then nurse closed the door to the semi-private room and she leaned against the wall as I towered over her wanting a response as quick as possible.
"So why is she here..." I growled, trailing of when I didn't know the nurses name. Calling her nurse is giving her a title, which she doesn't deserve as she is a low life rouge.
"Sabrina," she snapped and I growled as a warning for her. I then lifted an eyebrow to get her back on topic. She took a deep breath and ran a hand through her hair.
"Alpha King, she...um...well, she..." she trailed off and I started to get really irritated.
"Why is she here?!: I shouted while punching the wall above Sabrina's head. She started to shake in fear and looked to the floor in submission.
"She's here for chemo," she whispered. But I heard her. The word repeated over and over again in my mind.
Chemo.
Chemo.
Chemo.
That's for human cancer patients. There has never been a werewolf who has ever been diagnosed with anything, ever.
"Cancer?" I said. Sabrina nodded. I backup into the middle of the hallway and ran a hand through my hair. "What type? How bad?"
"Acute leukemia," she responded.
"The blood cancer?" I stated, getting more and more panicked. The survival rate for that is slim. I can't lose my little angel. I can't lose her.
"What stage is it?" I asked.
"Stage two." I took a deep breath.
Breath in.
Breath out.
I can't panic. At least she isn't in in stage three of four. All though if she was in stage one I would say at least she isn't in stage two. It doesn't matter what stage she is in. She's in risk of dying. My wolf growled at the thought of our mate dying.
"What precautions should I take with her?" I asked Sabrina.
Sabrina took a breath as well and looked up to the ceiling, signifying that she will be starting a list.
"Well, I suggest she doesn't get cold. Feed her properly. So, only well-cooked foods. Boil tape water before she drinks it. She shouldn't get tired. No physical activity so she doesn't exert herself. Make sure she doesn't hurt herself because if she bleeds, she may be getting rid of the bad blood cells, but she will also be getting rid of the good blood cells. By the looks of it, Lacey has already been put through years of abuse and this continued through when she first developed the cancer. Keep her out of large crowds or she could get contaminated by some of the diseases or illnesses they may be carrying. Make sure she stays clean so then she wouldn't have bacteria on her hands or body which could get inside her body. Just, over all, keep her safe and keep her clean," she finished. I let all that she told me jumble through my mind and my wolf was starting to get restless.
Lock her in our room and never let her out. My wolf said to me in all seriousness. He wanted our little angel to be completely safe and never out of our reach. He never wants her to be out of our arms ever again.
I let out breath and looked at Sabrina.
"Sabrina, would you be willing to join our pack as a female doctor? I only have a male doctor and I want a female doctor so I won't feel like there's a threat when she's having an appointment in the room alone," I said sternly showing no emotion. Sabrina on the other hand, her mouth fell open and she looked so happy.
"Really?" I nodded my head. "Uh, yes. Yes! Thank you so much, Alpha King." She said bowing her head in both respect for her new, official now that she's not a rouge anymore, Alpha King, and gratitude.
I then walked over to the semi-private room that my little angel is, leaving Sabrina to soak in what I just gave her.
When I entered the room, I saw my little angel, on the couch instead of the chair, sleeping on Ryan's chest. My wolf tore the barrier down again and charged for Ryan. How dare he take advantage of my mate when she sleeping. She is even more vulnerable than she is when she is awake. I lifted Lacey up off of Ryan and pulled him off the couch. I placed my little angel back on the couch and put a fluffy blanket over her to make sure she doesn't get cold like Sabrina told me.
I then turned back around and found Ryan was already out of the room. I quickly strode out of the room, wanting to hunt him down and torcher him for touching my mate.
NOBODY TOUCHES MY MATE!!!
I turned down the hall when I exited the room and found Ryan leaning on the wall waiting for me. I walked up to him and grabbed him by his collar, pulling him up off the ground the few inches for him to be eye level with me.
"How dare you touch what's MINE!" I shouted at him. He narrowed his eyes and glared at me.
"Yours? She is not yours. I took care of her for a full year, after she abused by some Alpha for ten years of her life! I want her to be safe and I think that she is safe with me and not with you!" He shouted at me. I punched him in the face over and over again until his nose was fully broken and he was knocked out.
I let him drop to the floor, mindlinking Matt to come by and take him to the prisons later, and walked back into the semi-private room. When I walked in, I saw another patient has taken the chair Lacey was once in and was using the blanket that I placed on Lacey minutes ago. I looked over to the couch and saw that Lacey was still asleep and shivering. I growled, walking over to the new patient, ripping the blanket off him, and placed it back on my little angel.
"Don't take a blanket that isn't yours," I growled at him. He cowered back in his chair from the power radiating off of me and I walked out of the room with Lacey in my arms.
I then started to walk home with my little angel back in my arms, where she belongs.A/N:
This is where I have no shame. I don't know if I should continue writing this book because I don't know if anyone likes it. So I will not continue writing if I don't get 10 votes in this chapter. I just want to make sure I'm writing for a reason.
