'Visions of Gideon' by Sufjan Stevens
Why: If Lana Del Rey is the queen of making people sad, Sufjan Stevens is the king. Honestly, he is an incredible songwriter and the way he writes is almost always incredibly poetic.
Although this song is not his saddest, 'Visions of Gideon' made the most lasting impact on me. The fact that he was able to convey so much emotion in such simple lyrics is amazing. In just a few simple lines, this song breaks my heart.
The commitment, artistry and effort that goes into each and every one of his songs is incredible and it really shows how much he cares about his music.
