Peaceful For The Moment? Nah. Daidōji: The Third Fight!

"How the hell did I get myself into this mess?" I questioned myself as I sat down in the restaurant. Most of Crimson Squad heard from the Hebijo and Hanzo squads' trip to Shinobi Island...very great name, I know.

Apparently, this was a rare event that was decided and approved by something called the 'Zodiac Star Committee', whatever that was, alongside the Shinobi Council to hold something called 'Peach Beach Splash'. Homura's friendship with Asuka (as much as she denies it) allowed for us to get in without much worry.

This 'Peach Beach Splash' from what I learned is a festival of sorts that allows for a moment of peace; a truce between evil shinobi and good shinobi. And recently, I learned how 'Crimson Squad' was recognized as a legitimate group. Good, we don't get attacked as often as normal renegades now. But why am I upset?

"Now this is truly a treat for you~ To bask in my radiance~" Souji. This lady here requested from my sister Miyabi to only allow Crimson Squad on the island if I chose to date one of their B-Team members. Specifically, her.

"..." Here I was now having suffer through her constant narcissism. For the sake of my team's safety, this is what I had to endure. I hate it.

This restaurant only existed due to the Shinobi making it exist. A French cafe, if I recall. We were sitting out in the sun, in a small table obviously meant for two people. And I wish I could just make Souji shut up.

"So, you look nice~ Well, not really comparable to me~ Although I do commend the effort to look as divine as me~" Just. Shut. Up.

"We'll be taking you're order- Oh, hey Kagemitsu," Hm? Yomi? Mirai?

"Erm, what are you doing?" Puzzled, my response did briefly lift my own spirits. People I actually enjoy were here, so the pain was dulled a bit.

"Opportunity for extra cash...since somebody decided to freeze our account," Mirai was clearly mentioning Yomi from how much she was glaring.

"...Really?" Her adherence to a poverty-stricken lifestyle is almost as obsessive as her bean sprout hobby. Glad I'm here to curb that a little.

"T-That can be discussed later," Yomi chuckled as she opened her notebook that most waiter's have. "What would you like this afternoon?"

"Ugh, finally, something addressed towards me. I was beginning to wonder for a second there~" Grumbling as she took her order (and mine, because Souji thought it was a good idea to try her favorite meals).

It had been three months. Three months of mostly doing small missions from undisclosed sources on the dark web, three months of ironing out the combat abilities of all members of Crimson Squad, three months of figuring out the future of the unique situation of Hanzo, Hebijo and our small band of renegades.

Shota and Kagura had left with Naraku to a hidden village that housed the Goshin Clan. So, I haven't really talked to him in person. Neither has Miyabi. Thankfully we get letters of various things he and Kagura have done and the odd confrontations they had with Shinobi of all walks of life.

But there was one thing I never got to do; fight Daidoji. Yes. That woman has been elusive, myself unable to even secure a rendezvous for us to duel. Every time, life proceeds to throw a curveball that derails any chance of a third match. It's why I was excited to go to Shinobi Island for the 'Peach Beach Splash'; Hanzo Academy being here meant that Amazon would follow suit.

Yet I am here. With a damn narcissist on a 'date'. Less of a date, and more of a way to show off to other female Shinobi of how 'beautiful' she was to earn a...I'm going to rework a term from Mirai's books, and say 'trophy boyfriend'.
