Chapter 16- A Thing

Joey's POV

They gave me a bow and some arrows and then forced me outside. I sighed.

Shane stopped moving so maybe I should try talking to him. I pushed the button Chad told me to push.

Joey: Shane?

After a few seconds I could hear crying and I knew it was Shane.

Shane: P-please come save me...

Joey: Where are you?

Shane: I don't know! Joey I'm scared...

Joey: Don't worry. I'll be there soon.

Shane: Ok, hurry.

I started wandering around. I was getting lost. Then I heard Shane again.

Shane: J-joey?

Joey: Yeah Shane?

Shane: I see a... thing.

Joey: A what?

Shane: A thing! I don't know what it is! It's up in the sky!

I looked around and noticed a hovercraft in the distance. I started running towards.

Joey: Shane go hide.

Shane: But how-

Joey: Go hide! Now!

Eventually I got pretty close to the hovercraft. I knew it was from the capital. They're probably trying to find out where district 13 is.

I looked around a little more and I could see Shane hiding in a bush. Before I could go over to him, I felt something grab me.

Shane jumped out of the bushes.

Shane: Joey!

Joey: Shane stay hidden!

Shane: But the-

Joey: Shane just do what I say!

He looked hurt but sunk back into the bushes. I felt myself being lifted off the ground. I'm pretty sure something from that hovercraft grabbed me.

I pull out and arrow and aim for a window on the hovercraft. I can see someone operating it. I let go and watch the arrow go through the glass and the person's head.

Whatever grabbed letting me go and I fell to the ground. I groaned in pain. I saw Shane sitting next to me.

Shane: Are you ok?

I sat up. I looked and saw the hovercraft flying off. I have a feeling Pr. Tube will be sending more hovercrafts over here. I looked back at Shane.

Joey: Yeah. I'm fine. Lets go back.

He looked guilty. I stood up and held out my hand for him. He took it and stood up but he didn't let go.

Somehow we found back to our room and went back to sleep. Shane is so tiring.
