Making your bed

It's crazy how a task as simple as making your bed can improve your mood ten fold. It's a small act that takes no more than five minutes but can start the rest of your day off on a more positive note. Start today by making it a habit to make your bed, trust me it's worth it.

Writing a letter to a friend or loved one

One of the most satisfying things in life has to be knowing that you've added value to someone's life. That feeling of sheer happiness as you spread appreciation and inspiration to others is a feeling you'll never forget. Take just 10 minutes out of your day to call, text, or write to someone you love. Share with them your heartfelt gratitude for everything they have done for you and lend your support to them if they are in need. If a relationship with a parent, spouse, or sibling is on the rocks, writing a letter may hold even more value in that person's heart. It is a good step in showing those that you care about how much they mean to you. Everyone wants to feel appreciated at times, and trust me a letter goes a long way. Spreading love for others through how we communicate and interact is essential in not only boosting our own self-esteem but the self-esteem of others as well. Everyone benefits from a good, heartfelt letter. So make it a habit to stay in contact with others and write to them to express your gratitude, the world will be a better place for it.

Being more organized

Whether it's with school work, paperwork at the office, or even in your home, make it a priority to stay on top of everyday tasks. Even the smallest bit of organization can make a world of difference. That pile of laundry that's been sitting there, wash it. That disaster of a bedroom, clean it. Start each day with one organizational goal in mind and don't stop until you achieve it. If its at home start by focusing on one room at a time until the whole house is finally in order. In order to keep it that way, create a routine and choose a time or day in which you know you'll be able to set aside some time to keep up on everyday chores. Whatever it is, make sure that you turn that room into a sacred space that you know you'll be able to fully enjoy. Having a hard time at work or school? Take even 5-10 minutes to create a plan of attack for the next day so you can better tackle the workload. I promise you a little planning is worth it. Get the ball rolling ahead of time. It will end up saving you from a much bigger hassle in the future.

Taking care of hygiene

Sometimes even the smallest acts such as flossing your teeth or taking a nice hot shower can make us feel much more accomplished. Nothing feels better than having fresh, clean skin after a shower. Even better, taking a multivitamin can make us feel much more productive. Create a morning and nightly routine and make your hygiene a priority.

Get a full 7-8 hours of sleep

Nothing is more important than getting a restful night sleep when you have had a long day. If you are anything like me, you usually feel like you don't have enough time to sleep. Even more so, when you do choose to get a full night's sleep do you find yourself not being able to fall asleep easily? If this sounds like you, try this one helpful trick. During your day, even if your waiting in line for a coffee, use that time to get some work done. By prioritizing our time during the day we can create more time at night for us to get restful sleep. If you still find yourself struggling to fall asleep try lavender pillow spray or melatonin supplements to kick start your journey to a healthy sleep cycle.

Small acts of kindness

One thing that I always try to live by is just simply being kind to those around me. You never know what a person might be going through that day so it's always beneficial to be kind. Whether it's going out of your way to compliment someone or even as simple as holding the door, even the smallest acts of kindness can really change someone's day around for the better. Not only that, in doing so you also boost your own happiness by knowing that you did something to bring a smile to someone's face. Today try and go out of your way to spread kindness because it will come back to you tenfold through everyday miracles.
