Chapter 16
The third point of view
...
"So what does this mean for me?" James asked Alec as he paced through his room. When he found out about Forina bonding with someone else, he had felt rage... so much rage... more rage then he had ever felt before. He had even felt the moment when it was official, it was as if someone had torn his soul in two and he would never feel complete again. It was a terrible feeling but now all he felt was... numb. Numb to everything in the world. He didn't feel anger nor sadness, just utter nothingness.
"It means that Casimir no longer has any need for you. You're free James and that's not an easy thing to be when you are involved with coven masters especially when they turn you themselves." Alec said knowingly. He knew first hand the hold they had on changelings.
Freedom was something everyone wanted but Alec didn't mind being tied down to Forina, for being tied down to her was freeing in a way, he would never have to worry about anything. He knew she always had his back no matter what.
She was that kind of person, to him anyways. She had turned him and his sister... so he would forever be grateful to her.
She had turned him with the intention of friendship. He remembered when they had met, it wasn't the best meeting. He and his sister had been thrown out of the orphaned due to no funds. They were starved and dying in the cold. He remembered how one day he saw a beautiful woman walking in the alley they had started calling home, he remember as she kneeled beside them and then offered them a gift.
The gift of immortality...
And he knew that if Forina hadn't found them then there wouldn't have been anything to find.
It was something that his sister didn't fully understand. He missed her, his Nora but he also wanted to be free of the responsibility of being an older brother and now he could.
"So I can leave?" James asked.
"Yeah but you still need to get yourself in control before you're among any humans," Alec explained and unlocked his phone.
"What are you doing?" James asked curiously.
"Helping you out. I'm going to send you to my contact back in New York. She'll help you out with control." Alec smiled at the thought of his sister. Even though they weren't as close, he still loved her more than anything.
"Are you sure Casimir will let me leave?" James asked cautiously but the truth was that he just didn't want to leave, he didn't want to leave Forina.
But he needed too... he needed to move on with his new immortal life.
"Yes and a little advice. Bond with someone else as soon as you can, don't ask why, just do it," Alec said in a hushed voice and then quickly walked out. James could see the anxiety rolling off him in waves.
He could see that Alec was scared just by telling him that and as much as James wanted to get to the bottom of it, he knew he that he shouldn't. James knew that knowledge was power but he also knew that it could get you killed hence his situation.
...
"Hey, stranger..." James turned his head to see her. She had looked even more beautiful then before if that was possible.
"Nora?" he asked confusedly. He had no idea she was a vampire, maybe he should have suspected since she did work at The Garden of Eden.
"Hey James, I guess you didn't take my warning," she smiled softly at him.
"Nope, You're Alec's contact?" James asked trying to be less awkward.
"Yeah, Actually his little sister." She smiled and then motioned him to follow her as they were standing awkwardly in the middle of a hotel lobby.
"Really? I don't see the resemblance," he blurted out and then quickly slammed his hand over his mouth.
"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to blurt that out like that," he apologised.
"Nah, it's okay," she laughed and waved him off.
"He's my half brother. His Father remarried my mother and had me." She explained which made a lot of sense since she was Asian and Alec was completely American.
"That explains a lot," James said sheepishly.
And from there the made conversation and carried on like they had been friends since the dawn of time but Alec's words echoed in his mind.
...
"We need to find out who this guy is. If Casimir is worried then maybe we should be too." Forina said as she paced around her study.
"Calm down, now is not the time to panic." Alec reminded her.
"You're right," she said and took a deep breath.
"We need to think of ways to direct attention to this guy and Casimir needs to think that you're in love with Nathan," Alec told her and rested his elbows on the desk as he went through his cell phone.
"I know... and what better way of expressing my love other than announcing it at a ball," Forina said with a grin.
"What ball?" He asked.
"The ball we'll be throwing for Nathan, with the help of the daughters so it keeps the coven masters thinking that's all we're good for." She started and then sent a sinister smirk his way.
"While we find out more about this new guy, you're a genius." Alec grinned.
"Now all we have to do is plan a ball..." Forina grinned.
"I'll get right on that, you go talk to Casimir." They exchanged a grin as everything was soon going to be coming together.
...
"Father..." Forina knocked at Casimir's office door. The talking went silent as Forina took that as a sign to enter.
"Oh, you're busy... shall I come back later?" she asked as she looked at the other coven masters and Nathan all sitting.
"No, what is it?" Casimir asked his daughter with an annoyed smile.
"Well, I was thinking of ways I could introduce Nathan as my beloved and the best way to do that is to host a Ball." She said sweetly and grinned at Nathan who wholeheartedly returned it.
"We don't exactly have time to host a ball," Casimir stated.
"Well, the girls and I will take care of everything so you all can have a break." She smiled innocently.
"Okay fine, go on and have at it." Casimir nodded
Everything would soon fall into place...
