Kiara's POV

I was sitting next to the watering hole with Vitani.

"I'm so happy that Karina's back," Vitani said.

"Yeah me too. I feel so bad that I had given up on her. I thought she was dead, but when she came back I wanted to cry. I was just so happy."

"Yeah, I'd expect that Karina's return would have a bigger affect on you because you're her mother."

"Yeah it did, and I have a feeling that her return affected Kovu the same way it affected me."

"Yeah, my brother acts tough, but on the inside he's soft."

Suddenly Vitani was pushed into the water and then I was pushed in. I surfaced and searched the edge of the watering hole. I saw Kovu laughing. "Kovu, what was that for?"

Kovu smiled, "I pushed Vitani in because she called me soft."

"But why'd you push me in?"

"Because, I felt like it."

Vitani ran out of the water and pounced on Kovu, but Kovu just pushed her off. I got out of the water. I sat down and watched Vitani and Kovu play fighting. It was really funny watching them. Kovu's a lot stronger than Vitani, but it was still funny watching her try.

"Hey mom."

Karina sat down next to me. "Hey sweetie."

"What's going on?"

"Your aunt and father are fighting."

"Aren't you going to do something?"

"No, they're just playing."

"Come on big sis, is that all you've got," Kovu said.

"This is so unfair, you're a lot bigger than me," Vitani argued.

"It's not my fault you're so short."

I sighed, "now they're just arguing."

"I don't think I've ever seen dad and aunt Vitani play around before," Karina said.

"Hey, are you two done yet?" I asked a bit annoyed. Kovu and Vitani stopped arguing. Karina got up.

"I think I'm going to go look for Coltan."

Karina walked away. Kovu walked up to me and nuzzled me.

"How long was Karina here?" Kovu asked.

"About the entire time you and Vitani were fighting."

"Great, she must think I'm an immature dad."

I shook my head, "I don't think so. I get into fights with kion a lot. all siblings get into fights no matter how old they are."

"You're right. I love you, and I'll love you till the day I die."

"I love you too." Kovu licked my cheek.

I glared at him, "was that supposed to be a kiss?"

"Um, I'm sorry."

I pounced on Kovu and forced him to the ground, but I have a feeling he wasn't even trying to stop me.

"Kiara, what are you doing?"

"I'm not tall enough."

"For what?"

I leaned my head down and kissed Kovu on the lips. I pulled away from him. I quickly got off of him. I gave him a quick smile and then ran off. I ran until I noticed that Kovu wasn't following me. I turned around. Kovu wasn't even in sight. "Kovu!" I heard a loud roar before I was forced to the ground. Kovu had me pinned to the ground. "Kovu, get off."

"No way."'

Kovu started licking my face. "Kovu stop, that tickles," I said as I laughed.

"Nope, you're so cute when you laugh."

"Kovu, please, I hate being tickled."

"But I like seeing you laugh."

Kovu licked my neck. I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing.

"Mom, Dad, what are you doing?"

Kovu and I turned our heads in the direction the voice came from. It was Zarina. Kovu quickly got off of me. "Um, it's nothing. Your father's driving me crazy."

Kovu rolled his eyes, "you started it."

"I did not."

Zarina sighed, "Okay, forget I asked."

Zarina turned around and walked away.

"I have noticed that the past couple of days Zarina has been acting different," Kovu said.

I refused to look Kovu in the eyes. I knew why she was acting weird, but I wasn't sure if she wanted me to tell kovu.

"Kiara?"

"Um, yeah?"

"You know something don't you."

"No I don't."

"You're lying."

"Fine, I'll tell you. A couple days ago Zarina was talking to me and she thinks that Karina might be a better queen and so she's been trying to decide whether she should let Karina be queen instead."

"What? But Zarina will make a great queen, she just needs to have faith."

"Kovu, I think Zarina needs to make the choice on her own."

Kovu sighed, "okay."

"And kovu?"

"Yeah?"

"Whatever Zarina chooses you've got to promise me that you'll respect her decision."

"Okay, I promise."

I nuzzled Kovu, "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Mommy, Daddy."

Kovu and I turned around. Juniper and Xander ran up to us. "Hello kids, what are you doing here?"

"We wanted to go on a walk, and we ran into Coltan and Karina making out," Juniper said.

"Did you say anything?" Kovu asked.

"Yeah, we said Eww," Xander said.

I couldn't help it but laugh. "Now that's kinda funny." Kovu laughed along with me. I stopped laughing. I noticed that it was starting to get dark. "Come on Kovu, we should probably get back to pride rock and put the cubs to bed."

"You're right, come on cubs, your mom's right, it's getting late."

The four of us walked back to pride rock. When we got to pride rock I laid down on my spot on the rock in the middle of the cave. Juniper and Xander curled up into my side. Kovu laid down next to me. "Goodnight Kovu."

"Goodnight. I love you."

"I love you too." I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
