83. The Ball

I step in my car and drive to the Mikaelson's mansion. I get out my car and sigh. Act normal, Cass. Don't let them expect something from you.
I walk straight inside to the living room and I sit in the couch and I look over at Kol, who's admiring himself in the mirror
"Cassandra, tell me how handsome I am."
"Do you really want to know the answer, brother?"
"Rebekah?"
"Ah, Kol, you know I can't be compelled"  She said while one of the servants was doing her nails. I see Finn smile and it makes me feel like I never left. Nick storms angry through the door towards Rebekah
"You went after Elena? What is wrong with you?"
"Here we go" She says, smiling at Nick
"Do you want another dagger in your heart?"
"Again with the dagger threats? Don't you have any other tricks?" Kol says and Nick looks at him
"Oh, go back to staring at yourself" Nick looks back at Rebekah, but turns back when Kol talks again
"And who are you, my father?"
"No, Kol, but you're in my house" Nick walks over to the sitting Kol and Kol stands
"Then perhaps we should go outside" They look at each other
"Enough!" Mother says when she walks inside
"Niklaus, come" Mother walks away and Nick goes after her. I see Kol smirk and I glare.
"You can let someone do your nails as well, Casandra." Elijah says to me
"I'm pretty good myself. I don't like compelling someone to do so."
"I wish I was more like you. Strong enough to survive of animals."
"Thanks, Elijah. It's been hard, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I'd kill someone to feed of."
"I never kill. Not anymore. "
"That's great, Elijah!" I smile and a girl comes in with scissors, but I send her away. I'm happy with the way my hair looks.
"Who are you taking to the ball, sister? That boy on the phone from the other night?" Kol asked me, smirking
"No, he's staying as far away from here as possible. I'm not taking anyone to the ball."
"No? That's a surprise." Rebekah snaps
"Why are you acting like this, Rebekah?"
"You left me alone. You made me think you were dead for all these years. Did you think I'd forgive you for that so easily?"
"No, but I hoped you'd understand. Like the others, but I can't force you." I stand up and walk to the door
"I want you to know that it hasn't been easy for me either." I looked around in the room and everyone looked me in the eye except Rebekah and I sighed. I closed the door behind me and I let one of the girls lead me to my room. I saw a beautiful dress lay on my bed. I sat down on the bed and I took my phone

No reaction from Isaac... Guess not I locked my door and I took a hot shower and I putted on the dress and, because I know mother would want it, I putted on the necklace she gave me so many years ago. I wanted to do my hair normally, but I changed my mind when I that about the fact that this is about introducing our family and mother wouldn't let me do it casually. So I did my hair a bit special. I did my make-up and when it was time I went downstairs. The party already started so apparently the up do of my hair took longer than expected. I saw Stefan talk to some people and I walked the other direction Did they have to invite him? I sighed and fake a smile for the other guests.
"Cassandra?!" I turned around and Damon waved me over
"Cassandra, this is Carol Lockwood. She's the mayor of this town. Carol, this is Cassandra Nightingale. She arrived not too long ago. She's staying for the summer, but you won't notice she's here. She feeds from animal blood."
"Damon!" I said and I looked around if no one else heard
"Oh, don't worry. I know. As mayor of this town it's normal." I fake smile
"But he still can't just go and say that to others without me approving."
"Well you can't just come to the Original family without telling anyone, Cassandra."
"And why not? You knew I know Niklaus and Elijah. You shouldn't be so surprised, I think the surprise will come later. Why are you here? From the diner I know that you and Nick aren't that close."
"Esther invited Elena. Me and Stefan are her replacement. Esther is the mother for when you didn't know that."
"I knew that."
"She's back, she arranged all this."
"I already know that too, Damon." I say and I feel a presence stand besides me.
"Mayor Lockwood. We haven't formally met. Kol Mikaelson. I hope your lovely town embraces us just as much as we plan to embrace it." I see Kol kiss Carol's hand
"Damon Salvatore. Have we met?"
"I've met a lot of people, And you don't particularly stand out." I smile and Kol looks at me
"Come, Cassandra."
"So you do know Cassandra?" Kol smirked at me
"You haven't told them?"
"Told what?"
"Right. Have fun telling them." Kol smirked and he walked away
"Tell what, Cassandra?"
"That's the surprise I was talking about, but I guess that's for later." I say and I quickly walk away. I saw Nick talk to a blonde girl and the way he was looking at her said it all. My brother has a crush! I watched over and Nick only said a few words and the girl walked away. She doesn't like him, I guess. I walked over to my brother
"So, who's that, Nick?"
"Why do you care, Cassandra?"
"Because I've missed all this over the years. And since I'm only staying this long, I want to know when you've set your eyes on a girl." He sighed
"Caroline Forbes. She's the daughter of the sheriff."
"Don't tell me that's the only reason you like her."
"No, I'm just not telling you all the other things." Nick walked away again and I rolled my eyes.  Brothers will stay brothers.
