Third and final part of the "Best Friends" trilogy 🤗❤️ I have @taekookies04 to thank for the amazing idea that's kept me fired up for three whole parts 💖 I love you!

Now, onto the story 🙃

"Can I come in?" Taehyung asked meekly. He seemed almost wary, as if Jungkook was about to launch a sudden violent attack on him.

"U-uh, yeah, of course," Jungkook stuttered in surprise, standing aside to let Taehyung through, who nodded stiffly in thanks. The situation was so awkward, so cold- no one would've guessed that these two boys once shared a bath together

(As toddlers you FREAKS 😂💜)

-they had never seemed more like complete strangers in their entire lives.

Taehyung looked around the living room, making Jungkook cringe internally. The place was a mess- blankets everywhere, endless cups of stale coffee littering every surface, and, of course, the unfortunate bowl of ramen. Taehyung blinked.

"What happened there?" He asked, gesturing.

Jungkook scratched the back of his neck with an awkward grin as he slumped on his sofa. "I wasn't expecting anyone at the door, so when you rang the doorbell I jumped out of my skin, hence why I have scalding hot ramen all over the floor and all over my thigh."

Taehyung giggled slightly, both boys feeling the tension in the air start to clear. "Oh, Kookie, I have missed you."

"I missed you too," Jungkook said. "So much."

A silence prevailed. The tension was back, and this time much thicker. Both boys swallowed, neither knowing what to say.

"So," Jungkook eventually said limply. "Why did... why did you come here?"

Taehyung sighed deeply. He sat down next to Jungkook on the sofa, eyes not meeting the younger's.

"I broke up with Jimin," Taehyung stated, voice so abrupt it startled the younger. Jungkook stared at his best friend, wondering if his ears were playing tricks on him.

"What?"

And then the words registered in his head, and the shock was replaced by guilt. "B-because of me...?"

Jungkook felt sick. He had been unable to control what he'd said yesterday, but he thought that leaving Taehyung alone would at least help the older forget him and move on. To hear that he'd ruined Tae's happiness made him feel absolutely terrible. However, the huge squeezing in his stomach lessened ever so slightly when  Taehyung turned to look at him.

"No, Kookie. Because of me."

Jungkook blinked. His brain felt as if it was about to explode- this was way too much to handle for a boy who'd spent the last three days marooned on the sofa crying his eyes out. It seemed like he was living one of the shitty K-dramas he and Tae always binged watched together.

"I don't undesta-"

"Whenever I'd say anything weird, as you know I do a lot, do you know what Jimin would do?" Tae's voice was soft. Composed, but with a slight tremble that only Jungkook could be able to notice since he knew Taehyung better than anyone else in the whole world.  "He'd stare at me, maybe make a remark on how I wasn't normal. He didn't laugh and agree, he didn't start a 5 hour long debate about it, he didn't add something even weirder on to it. Not like you."

Jungkook reached out and took Taehyung's hand, giving it a silent squeeze of acknowledgement as he urged him to continue.

"When he took me on dates, he'd take me to the fanciest restaurants in attempt to impress me. It was so awkward and formal, not my thing at all. And all through those dinners, all I could think of was our Friday night outings at Burger King and how much I wanted to be there, goofing around, eating junk food with you."
