A few weeks passed and neither Jaehee nor Sooyeon had managed to work up the courage to tell Hyejeong anything. Hyejeong continued to talk daily about Jaebeom while both of them smiled sheepishly at her, adding the occasional comment here and there. Hyejeong continued her fansite activities and attended as many events as school would allow her to. Yugyeom occasionally replied to Sooyeon's Instagram stories and they joked about his hyungs a lot.
Sooyeon and Jaebeom had been talking non-stop for several weeks. Sometimes Sooyeon would go over and record 'Waves', and their project was nearly complete. She would occasionally bumped into Jinyoung at the studio as well, and Jinyoung would give his feedback on the song. Jaebeom said he would find a good day to release it on his SoundCloud, which only made Sooyeon more nervous. This would mean she would finally have to confront Hyejeong about the situation.
She sighed, stepping out the front door of her school. Her eyes squinted as they attempted to adjust to the bright afternoon sun. Suddenly she felt her back pocket buzz and she took out her phone.
prdsdef: Look up when you're walking dummy.
Sooyeon's jaw dropped. "What the-" She glanced around frantically. From a fair distance away, she spotted a familiar looking Mercedes parked on the side of the street. The window of the car rolled down and she could see a dark figure with ruffled wavy hair and wearing sunglasses smiling back at her.
"What- JAEBEOM!" She whisper-screamed at him, though he was definitely too far away to hear her. She looked around again, making sure no one was near her; especially Hyejeong. Flustered, she grabbed all her belongings and started awkwardly speed-walking to the car.
She leaned into the open window and glanced around again. "What the HELL are you doing here Jaebeom?!"
Jaebeom leaned back, an expression of fake hurt taking over his facial features. "You mean you didn't want to see me?" He smirked.
"Not at school! What if someone recognizes you? Oh my god, what if someone recognized your car?!" The colour began to drain from her face.
"Relax, there's a million other Mercedes in Seoul," Jaebeom smiled. "Get in,"
"I can't believe you're doing this. I'm mad at you right now," Sooyeon insisted.
"Well, the longer you stand outside the more obvious you look, so just get in already."
Sooyeon hesitated. She hated to admit it, but he was right. Glancing around one more time, she opened the car door and jumped in as fast as she could. She quickly rolled the tinted window back up and immediately felt safer. "Okay let's get out of here!"
"But you haven't even told me where you want to go yet," Jaebeom teased.
"If you don't drive out of here in 3 seconds-" Sooyeon started with her serious face.
"Alright alright," Jaebeom laughed. He put the car in drive and exited school grounds.
"You know you could have just called me or let me know where to meet you," Sooyeon lectured. "There's so many young kids at my school and you could have easily blown your cover, not to mention you didn't even come with a manager-"
"Shhhhhhh," Jaebeom hushed. "I picked you up to get food together, not to be lectured." He turned to her, squinting his eyes. "Besides, how do I call you? You refuse to give me your number."
Sooyeon didn't have a rebuttal, as he was right. She had refused many times to give him her phone number because she was paranoid of someone finding her contact info on his phone. She wanted to create the least amount of problems and scandals being associated with GOT7, which Jaebeom was clearly not helping out with at the moment.
