Sooyeon picked at the paper sleeve of her coffee cup, feeling extremely nervous. Her back was upright and rigid, unable to rest on the back of her chair. Im Jaebeom was sitting in front of her, twiddling his thumbs.

"So uh, yeah. Hi," Jaebeom said, awkwardly. They were sitting at the table closest to the front window and were waiting for Jinyoung to finish cleaning up in the washroom. He picked up his drink and leaned backwards, putting his arm around the empty chair next to him. Jaebeom looked out the window and took a long sip out of his half melted latte, face mask tucked under his chin.

So this was Im Jaebeom in the flesh. Sooyeon had a perfect view of his side profile as he continued to stare outside, and she could perfectly see his two eye moles. Despite having seen him just a few days prior at the fanmeet, seeing him in his element outside of work was shocking but also very charming.

If Hyejeong were here, she would be screaming at the top of her lungs. Sooyeon chuckled softly at the thought.

"What was that Sooyeon?" Jaebeom was suddenly looking at her and she immediately tensed up again, almost forgetting she wasn't staring at him through a screen anymore. She looked away, flustered.

"Nothing, sorry," She sputtered. Sooyeon bit her tongue. She had to remember that they were really there with her. She couldn't do anything stupid.

"What are you guys talking about?" Jinyoung came walking back, looking down and brushing his pants off with a paper towel.

Sooyeon shot up so fast that her chair made a loud scraping noise and almost toppled over. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry about your pants! If you just give me your number I can- wait no, that's creepy I don't need your number. Here I'll give you mine- wait," The blood drained from her face again as she comprehended the words that were coming out of her mouth.

Jinyoung let out his harmonious and beautiful laugh. "Don't worry about it Sooyeon-ssi," he put his hand on her shoulder gently and pushed her back down into her seat. Sooyeon slowly obliged. Jinyoung took the seat next to Jaebeom. "I don't need any compensation. We're actually filming nearby. I'll just get changed at the filming site later." Jinyoung looked her straight in the eyes, and she felt herself lose breath again. "So I just had to ask because I've never received that kind of request before at a fansign. Why did you want to sing? Are you pursuing a singing career?"

"Your singing wasn't bad. I'll admit it," Jaebeom chimed in. He leaned forward to join the conversation, both of them looking at Sooyeon with expectation in their eyes.

Sooyeon could still not believe this was happening. JJ Project was actually in front of her asking her questions. Asking HER questions, and not the other way around. "I-I actually go to the university a few blocks down," she said, shyly. "I major in music, but specifically vocals."

Something in Jaebeom's expression changed once he heard her say that. "Wait, let me hear your vocals one more time. Could you sing a verse for us? Anything you can think of right now." He leaned forward even more, his eyes sparkling slightly with excitement.

"Hyung, what are you doing," Jinyoung muttered under his breath and kneed Jaebeom under the table. They weren't supposed to encourage fans to get closer to them like this, especially after their entertainment company issued out warning letters to sasaeng fans. They still had to be careful.

Jaebeom brushed him off, absentmindedly, still staring expectantly at Sooyeon. "Trust me." Jaebeom said. Jinyoung sighed, leaned back in his chair, and closed his eyes with his arms crossed.

Sooyeon looked nervously around the cafe. She was thankful that there weren't that many customers to witness her singing to two masked men at the edge of the cafe. She took a deep breath and started singing.

"내 뺨을 스치는 바람이"
The wind that blows on my cheek

Jinyoung's eyes widened after hearing the first line. She was singing his song.

"내 맘을 흔드는 파도소리
The sound of the waves that shake up my heart

기도가 하늘에 닿았나 봐
In case my prayers reach the sky

더 크게 소리쳐 빛 바래지지 않게"
I'm shouting louder so it won't fade

Jaebeom's smile grew with every line Sooyeon sang. "This is the voice I was looking for," he looked at Jinyoung excitedly. "You know the song I was writing? 'Waves'? This is the feel." He looked at Sooyeon. "Could you come into studio to do some demo recordings?"

Sooyeon sat there in shock. This was a lot to take in. JJ Project were sitting in front of her and now JB was asking her to sing his song? "H-hold on let me check my schedule first." She pulled out her phone to pull up her work and school schedules and placed it on the table facing upwards, revealing her background: a picture of Jinyoung. Sooyeon immediately smacked her hand on top of the screen to cover it. Both Jinyoung and Jaebeom jumped, slightly alarmed. Sooyeon's cheeks flushed red.

"You know what? I'll just message you on my Instagram. We're not allowed to give out our numbers for privacy reasons." Jaebeom handed his phone to her with Instagram open on it.

Sooyeon took his phone, hands shaking, and typed in her Instagram handle. Holy shit I'm actually doing this right now. She handed the phone back to Jaebeom. As soon as it was back in his grasp, he began to type something.

"Alright, it's about time we head back to the shoot," Jinyoung smiled at Sooyeon. Her legs felt weak just watching him smile at her. She tried to smile back, but it just came out as an awkward laugh.

"It was nice seeing you again Sooyeon-ssi," Jaebeom said, standing up and sipping his latte again. "I'll be in touch soon!"

Jinyoung smiled again and waved at her before both of them headed out the door, bells ringing once again.

Sooyeon remained in her seat for what felt like an eternity, muscles tensed and hand still on her phone. As she finally began to relax, she uncovered her hand to reveal a message.

"[sooyeon0108] prdsdef: hey"
