Experimentation

Chapter one

It had been three weeks since Berk had made peace with dragons. One since their hero had awakened.

Hiccup looked at the saddle strap he was making for Hookfang's saddle. He had been begging Gobber to help with the weapons because of how much got destroyed weeks before in the battle of the red death. But Gobber wouldn't let him. He was still getting used to his prosthetic, with out tripping or falling. Gobber was worried that he would trip while holding a sword or an axe and cut himself or even kill himself.

"I become the hero of Berk and I'm here fixing dragon saddles because I can't get used to my stupid prosthetic LEG!" Hiccup yelled throwing the strap to the ground. He grabbed Hookfang's saddle and placed it on the table. He grabbed the strap and started to sew it on. After it was done he placed the saddle on a chair and placed a plaque of wood with Hookfang's name on it. Hiccup sighed as he turned around to leave the forge since he no longer had anything to do. Walking out of the forge towards his house he got a couple good mornings and hellos from people he didn't really knew lived in the village.

"HICCUP!" A voice yelled behind Hiccup, he turned around to see Fishlegs running towards him.

"Fishlegs what's wrong?!" Hiccup said worried his anger from before long gone.

"Ships! Dozens of them heading here faster then any ship we have seen!" Fishlegs said panting. "And I don't think they are friendly." Hiccup grabbed Fishlegs and ran towards the cliff of Berk to get a better look making sure he wouldn't trip or fall again.

Once they got to the cliff Hiccup saw it. About three dozen ships heading this way, each bearing the sign of a dragon being attacked. Hiccup pulled out a spyglass he had made a few weeks before while training Toothless. He saw each deck almost covered with men holding bows loaded with green arrows.

"This is bad," Hiccup said turning towards Fishlegs. He gave the teen the spyglass and folded his arms.

"By the way they are moving we have about ten minutes to blow the warning horn to get everyone to the great hall." Fishlegs said handing it back to Hiccup. Hiccup looked at him and nodded.

"I will blow the horn. You get everyone that had bonded with a dragon and has ridden it for the last two weeks. We need to destroy those ships before they can come and do anything." Hiccup said putting the spyglass away. Suddenly he heard the noise of a catapult and turned towards the ships. About fifty boulders were heading towards the village.

"Hiccup!!" Fishlegs said as he started to run. Hiccup turned around and ran.

"Everyone to the great hall!!" He yelled, then he tripped falling face first. Stupid leg! He said to himself. Then the first wave hit, Hiccup looked up to see that a boulder had landed only a few feet from him.

Screaming filled the village as people dropped what they were doing and ran towards the great hall. Hiccup got up and started to run towards the arena, where the dragons were. He saw all the riders fly out with their dragons.

"Toothless!" Hiccup yelled as he entered the arena. His Night fury ran towards him and lowered himself so Hiccup could get on. Once Hiccup was strapped on they took off. Once in the air he could see that the ships were here and men where everywhere, the hall doors closing to keep the children and elderly safe. The only ones still out were the dragon riders and some warriors.

"Ok bud let's kick some annoying butt!" Hiccup said as he guided Toothless into a dive towards the ships. As they got close enough Toothless fired a plasma blast at the ship hopping to find it sinking as he turned around. When he did he didn't find it sinking, instead underneath the wood was metal. "Dragon proof metal! You've got to be kidding me!"

"HICCUP!" Astrid yelled. Hiccup looked over to see Stormfly going out of control. Hiccup went to help when Stormfly dives and hit the ground unconscious. Hiccup stopped when he saw Astrid stand up looking fine. "HICCUP IM FINE, GO HELP THE OTHERS." She yelled waving him away.

"Ahhh!" A voice yelled. Hiccup looked to his right to see Meatlug and Fishlegs fall next to Gobber's forge surrounded by men. He then saw the Twins fall into the arena, same with Snotlout. Within the span of twenty seconds all the dragon riders were down dragons not moving. Hiccup turned towards the ships and dived, Toothless gave him a worried look, Hiccup patted the Nigh fury's head and smiled.

"Everything will be alright." He said looking back at the ships. Toothless then fired, doing as much damage he could. Hiccup then started another loop. As they neared the edge of the ocean and the cliff. Toothless was hit by an arrow and lost control. They hit the cliff both falling unconscious.

Hiccup slowly started to wake up.

"Your a cute one aren't you?" A voice said. Hiccup felt himself be picked up. "Too bad it won't last." Hiccup was dropped back to the ground and was pulled along the ground. He opened his eyes and looked to his left to see Toothless unconscious, a large and bulky man touching him.

"Leave the Night fury alone!" The man dragging Hiccup yelled.

"B- but I thought Viggo would want a dragon like this!" The bulky man said.

"We are here for the weak and useless Vikings not their tamed dragons. Now come viggo has sent the signal to hurry up." The man Hiccup couldn't see said. Hiccup looked towards the great hall to see his father running towards him.

"HICCUP!" His father yelled as he ran.

"Dad," Hiccup said weakly before he lost consciousness.

Hiccup woke up again as he was thrown into a cage-like cell he looked down to see himself chained up. He looked at the opening to see a guard locking it.

"Enjoy your new home, fishbone!" The guard said laughing. Hiccup looked around the cell to see Fishlegs was there, slowly regaining consciousness. There were three other teens around his age all looking at the ground.

"VIGGO'S COMMAND! Retreat!" Somone above them shouted. "MOVE IT MOVE IT!" Hiccup sat down next to Fishlegs and covered his face.

"Dragon root..." Fishlegs said as he woke up. Hiccup looked at him to see his friend waking up.

"What?!" Hiccup said confused.

"The arrows were coated with dragon root." Fishlegs said before he become unconscious. Hiccup was shocked that he didn't notice that before. The ship unanchored and started to sail away from Berk. And hiccup was to much in thought to notice.
