Life goes on, and slowly so does school. Our first competition is this Saturday...so tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous but at the same time I'm totally excited. We don't have a football game today so we have practice after school. Which I'm totally fine with, gives me something to do with my life.

Marching band practice went by super fast, so I went home and made sure I had everything ready for tomorrow. Not really sure what to expect because my old school does so many things differently than Ray's Grove does. I just need to get used to the changes already. After getting everything ready for tomorrow I eat and go to sleep.

Waking up the next morning to an alarm was not fun, Saturdays are suppose to be my day off. Falling out of my bed wasn't that much fun either but oh well. I grab my clothes and go to take the bathroom for a nice hot shower. The only problem is the water heater is broken, how does that even happen? like for real! Well guess who doesn't get a shower this morning. I braid my long brown hair and change and walk out the door, forgetting that I can not drive and my dad is still eying breakfast. I have no established that today is not my day. Dad finally finishes eating and we head for the school.

Everyone was all tired an depressed, which always the best attitude to have before our first competition...just kidding. As soon a I reach the band room I put down my stuff and am about to go get my uniform when William walks up to me. "Rose guess what?" he seems abnormally happy, especially compared to all the gloomy faces surrounding us. "What William?"
"I have a girlfriend!" At the sound of these words I immediately get confused, "You what?"
"I have a girlfriend."
"Like a girl that is a friend? Or your dating someone?"
"I asked out Emma and she said yes!"
"That's amazing William, I'm so happy for you." It wasn't till this moment that I realized I was completely over him and he now has became my best guy friend.

The bus ride to the competition was loud and annoying. Luckily it was only like a 20 minute drive. As soon as we get there we have to go get our instruments and practice marching on the grass. From there we go to warm ups then go compete. Easy enough. The judges put us in third place but we did get best percussion over all, which felt nice. Proud of our success we return home proud of everything that happened. Once we return to Ray's Grove the task was put away your uniform and instrument without being ambushed. With 100 people in one band room, personal space just evaporated into thin air. I finally managed to put my stuff away, and being as little as I am that was a major accomplishment.

While waiting for my ride William walks up to me and asks me how I felt about today. "It was interesting to compete with another band but at least we did good!" he just kinda half smiles then says, "Do you still like me?" Automatic shock swept over me. "No I don't, your my best guy friend." A sudden look of relief comes over him, "Okay, just making sure. Do you like anyone?"
"Obviously I like someone."
"Seriously? who?"
"My trumpet duhhhh." I burst into laughter at his face, like he was confused but felt bad for me at the same time. He doesn't answer so I think I should explain myself, "No William I don't like anyone."
"Oh okay, you kinda confused me for a second. I thought you just didn't want to tell me."
"I would tell you if I did, don't worry." My dad pulls up before William has time to respond so we just smile as each other and I leave him and the competition behind me.
