Authors note! Heyo! I just watched a playthrough of Apollo Justice and.. wow. Just wow. So this takes place in Apollo Justice I suppose.. idk man

Phoenix's POV

"Daddy..?"
I turned around to see my daughter, Trucy, standing In the doorway.
"Ah.. Truce is something wrong..?"
"I.. I can't sleep.."
I looked over to the clock on the table. It read 11:47.
"Could you sit with me..?"
"Of course." I stood up and walked with Trucy to her room. She climbed into her bed and got under her blanket. I sat next to her and held her hand. It didn't take long to fall asleep. It took about three minutes. I sat for an extra two just to make sure she was so alright.

Trucy means so much to me. She saved me in a way. Not just financially either. Ever since I lost my badge I fell into the darkest time of my life. But there she was. Trucy lit up my whole life. I knew I couldn't let her down. Even though she was with me.. I couldn't help but feel betrayed. By all my, so called, friends. When I needed people I could talk to.. nobody was there. My emotional state was horrible. It still is. That's why I didn't contact anyone. I locked up my feelings, like someone I knew... If I let go.. if I let my feelings get the best of me... I'd fall. I'd fall hard. I'd fall with no one there to catch me. I'd fall and crash into the pavement, all alone. Broken and alone.

I always shook off how I felt. I needed to stay strong. No.. I need to stay strong. For her. Even I it means pretending I'm okay. Even if it means.. lieing. Sometimes I just want someone to tell me everything's okay.. even if it's not. Because.. everything.. everything isn't okay. I broke a long time ago. Enough of this.. I should get to sleep.

I walked to the couch. I honestly didn't feel like sleeping In my own bed. So I flipped onto the couch and buried my head in my arms.

I was woken up by a familiar face.
"Daddy wake up! You said we could go out today!"
I realized, yesterday, I promised Trucy I'd take her to the mall. She said she only wanted to walk around though. She wasn't much of a spender. She loved browsing though.
"Okay okay I'm getting up.."
"Yay!"
"Did you eat breakfast?"
"Yep! Made it all by myself!"
"Good. How about we go then?"
"Yeah!"
"Hey Truce, wear a jacket it's getting chilly."
"Alright!"
Trucy walked into her room and put on a light jacket. I threw on my hoodie and waited for Trucy by the front door. I grabbed a scarf and put it on Trucy.
"Don't need you getting sick, now do we?"
"Nope! I'll be healthy forever!"
I smiled slightly and walked out of the door with my daughter. The cold air hit my cheeks like a slap to the face. It's only fall so I didn't understand why it was already so cold.

We made out way down the street. I was walking but Trucy skipped most of the way. We made it to a strip of stores and stopped at the first one. Her favourite magic shop was on this street so I took her to this area often. If I'm being honest I like showing her the little things. Like the falling leaves, colored with the warmest colors. Or the lake on the other side of the road. Or when you see someone walking their dog on the sidewalk. That kind of stuff.

"Daddy daddy! Look at the cute decorations in there!"
I looked over, through the large glass window, to see paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The walls were painted light yellow and there was white shelves everywhere.

"Woah.. I haven't ever seen anything like this before."
"Me either! It's so pretty."
Trucy seemed extra excited today. I was glad to see she wasn't bummed out that summer ended..

"Hey! Look it's Avery!"
I looked to where Trucy was pointing. She pointed at a girl. She looked to be about Trucy's age.
"Is she a friend of yours?"
"Mhm!"
"Go say hi then!"
"Really?"
"Yep. Don't let me stop you!"
"Okay!"
Trucy ran over to the girl. They hugged and started talking. I sat on a bench near by, making sure they were alright. Suddenly someone tripped near me and they fell on their knees. I got up and knelt next to them. They kept their head down. I can't tell why.. but he seemed familiar.

"You alright? You took quite a tumble there."
"Yes, I'm alright. Than-"
He looked up at me.
"Oh my g- Phoenix?!"
"M-Miles?!"
I was so shocked.. I haven't seen Miles since I lost my badge, all that time ago..
"W-what happened?!"
"What do you mean what happened?! You don't know?"
"Of course I know about your badge! I just have so many questions!"
"No, I didn't actually do it. I didn't make the evidence. Now if you'll excuse me I have to get going."
I stood up and left Miles kneeling on the ground.
"Hold on! Just let me speak with you a minute!"
"No."
I didn't want to even see him. I didn't want to hear him. I started walking off. I really didn't want to see him. I felt him tug at my sleeve.
"Please Phoenix let me speak with you."
"No. I don't want to talk to you."
I yanked my arm away from Miles and started walking away. I wanted to get Trucy and leave. Suddenly I was pulled back.

Third Person POV

Miles had wrapped his arms around Phoenix's shoulders so he couldn't move. Miles rested his forehead on the other's shoulder, staring at the ground.
"Please. I'm begging you."
Phoenix tensed up a bit. He knew he wasn't going to win against Miles. Yet he didn't want to give in either. But he had to.

"... Fine.. I need to do something first."
Miles smiled softly and released himself from Phoenix. Phoenix started walking towards Trucy. Miles followed from behind. He was a bit confused of where Phoenix was going.
"Hey Truce?"
"Hm? Yeah?"
Trucy turned around.
"We gotta get going."
"Aw! Alright! Bye Avery! See you later?"
"Of course! Bye!"
Trucy skipped to Phoenix's side.
"Miles. Try to not get angry with me."
"Huh..?"
"This is Trucy.. my.. daughter.."
Miles' eyes widened slightly.
"I adopted her quite some time ago."
"Y-your daughter.."
"Yes."
"I.. see.. you expect me to not get angry, huh?"
"I never said that. I said try not to."
"Daddy who's this..?"
"He's.. an old.. friend of mine."
"It's nice to meet you, Trucy."
"O-oh.. Nice to meet you too!"
"Where are we going Miles?"
"How about we go to my place?"
"Mm. Alright. Did you drive here?"
"No. My house isn't too far from here. We can walk."
Miles walked in front of the two. His jacket acted like a cape, making fluid movements everytime he took a step. Phoenix walked with his hands in his pockets and Trucy held Phoenix's forearm. Phoenix didn't want to get angry at Miles in front of Trucy. It'd set a bad example. So he decided to bottle it up for just a bit longer.

Miles was glad he ran into Phoenix. He wanted to contact him.. but he didn't.. he just hid away. Miles thought he got lucky.
