♤chapter 30♤

His breath begins to feel labored, he didn't want this right now but something triggered him. The world was closing in becoming dark and faded. Chan's words become faint and distorted. The body becomes weak and suddenly falls. But Hyunjin doesn't feel or see it. Hyunjin lets go and disappears into the comfort of his mental room.

Yeseul is the one to take over, somehow she was triggered. It was due to the overthinking and digging Hyunjin tried to do to tell Chan more of the truth and plan the truth for Changbin. Chan had tried to catch the older, but ended up only making the fall slower. Chan began to worry, not understanding what was happening. He was about to call for help before he heard a noise from the older.

"Hyung are you okay?" Chan asks the older, oblivious to what happened.

"He's okay...um, hi Chan. I'm one of Hyunjin's alters, I'm Yeseul," the alter spoke in a soft and quiet voice as she introduced herself, Chan tried to piece together what happened.

"Hyunjin said he usually dis-disso...whatever, changes when he is triggered. Did I trigger him?" Chan asked, anxiety lacing his voice and lightly tugging at his hair. Yeseul at this point has sat up.

"It wasn't you, he was just trying to dig for memories that we are trying to protect him from," Yeseul explained. Chan smiled softly with relief, but that didn't stop how weird this situation was.

"I guess you know who I am, but I don't know you..." Chan trailed off, wanting this to be as normal as possible. Yeseul got up excitedly and jumped a bit. Kinda like a kid. Chan stood up from his kneeling position on the ground.

"I always wanted to be friends with you Channie! You are so sweet to and protective of Hyunjin-ah just like me!" Yeseul cheerily explained.

"Am I your 'oppa' because you are 8?" Chan asked.

"Actually I would be 28 if I was a normal person, since alters don't usually age I'm still 8. Technically I'm older than you!" Yeseul playfully poked Chan's nose after her last sentence, smiling widely (can i be yeseul??? i wanna poke chan's nose). It was weird for Chan to see Hyunjin's body doing such actions, but it was cute nonetheless. Yeseul grabbed Chan's hand and swung their arms back and forth energetically. Chan would be lying if he said he wasn't enjoying it.

"It's nice meeting you, thank you for helping out Hyunjin hyung," Chan said, still feeling weird. But he knew he had to except it at one point or another.

"And thank you for staying by his side. He was really worried to tell you. He didn't want to scare away his bestest friend. But I told him, 'Don't worry Channie will understand.'" Yeseul said stopping to put her hand on her hip and shaking her other hand dismissively. She then went back to swinging their arms. Chan smiled widely at the cuteness of the alter.

"Hyunjin told me about the alter I unknowingly met. What do you think of him?" Chan asked the alter, he just wanted to understand this more.

"Rune-ah is a bad person. He makes Hyunjinnie do bad things, but Rune cares about Jinnie. He doesn't like to admit it. Also Rune is in love with Lixie, and it's kinda cute. At least Rune doesn't hurt Jinnie's friends." Yeseul explained, pouting and nodding her head when she said something she agreed with.

"When was Rune...created?" Chan felt like Hyunjin told him not enough, but too much at the same time.

"When Jinnie was being hurt by Young K...none of us like him. Rune was created to hide those memories and help Jinnie cope. I helped a bit too," Yeseul said, her tone dropping a bit due to grief. Yeseul had stopped the arm swinging while she spoke. Chan let go of her hand and rubbed the alter's back.

"I don't wanna talk about it...it makes me really sad," Yeseul looked at Chan with tears in her eyes. Chan felt his heart twinge a bit for her and his friend. Yeseul smiled weakly at Chan. Chan then grabbed the alter's hand

"You will all tell me in your own time," Chan reassured, "And I'll be here to listen to every word. From you, Jinnie, and even Rune."

Yeseul smiled at Chan and gave him a tight hug. This took Chan by surprise, but nonetheless he hugged back. The hug was cut short by Hyunjin's phone going off. Yeseul quickly let go of Chan to answer it. The caller ID belonged to Felix.

"Hewwo," Yeseul answered.

"Hey Jinnie, when are you coming back? Binnie is worried about you...so am I," Felix unknowingly asked the alter. Although slightly suspicious of the higher tone.

"Um, I'll ask Channie if he can give me a ride home." Yeseul answered, not wanting to tell Felix yet. Once the two hung up, Chan grabbed the alter's hand and lead her back to the café where he left his car.
