Weston is seeming to talk to Desiree more and more each passing day.
I confront him before he leaves the building to go on the bus.
"Do you like Desiree or something? Because you seem to be more interested in her than me."
He looks rather stunned, and he puts his hands on my shoulders.
"No, we're just friends. And that's all we'll ever be. She saved my life, more than you'll ever know."I stare down, still not really
convinced. Weston notices."Hey, don't worry about it. Forever and ever. Okay? I love you." He pecks my cheek and walks away to his bus.
It's after school, and I have nothing to do, when Olivia comes up.
My phone buzzed.
Dad: you're coming over this weekend right? your mom better not be being a bitch again
I'm sitting down at the red table in the common area, and she plops down beside me.
I look up at her.
"Olivia, what should I do with my life?" I ask, thinking about the Weston-Desiree situation, plus my mom and my dad hating on each other again.
"You can always focus your energy on something else," she pauses, really looking at me. She scans my posture up and down. "You're getting thinner, Kenna."
She stands up. Her visit is over for now.
"Keep going, you won't regret it."
She disappears in the distance.
