The Pharaoh and His Slave

Chapter 13

Yugi's POV

Isis came in and tended to the wounds quickly so Atem and I could be alone. She gave me a smile before placing her hand on my cheek. She nodded and left the room. I'm pretty sure I'm like the son she doesn't have. "I think you're like a son to her," says Atem. I chuckle. "Yes I know this and I see her as a second mother," I say. He holds me close to his chest and buries his face in my hair. "I'm gonna give you some alone time. You take care Yugi," he says. "Go find Seto. I'm sure he'd like the company," says Atem.

Joey rolls his eyes and he leaves and he shuts the door. I kiss his neck and inhale his scent. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you," I say. "No don't apologize. Your back was against the wall and you had no choice up until now," he says. "How do I know he doesn't have connections on the outside," I say. "I'm going to ensure that anyone who'd think to help him knows that they'll be placed in the cell with him and eventually the guillotine," he says with a harsh tone at the end.

Under normal circumstances, I would have laughed at that. "Baby easy," I say. "No I'm gonna make it perfectly clear who you belong to. You're not an object to me but you're my lover. My everything," he says. I nod into his neck and my eyes start to drift shut. "Sleep Yugi. I'll be right here when you awaken," he says and I drift off. For once, my dreams aren't plagued with nightmares.

Atem's POV

After he falls asleep, I stare at his face for what feels like hours. Tears flow down my cheeks as I think about how close I came to losing him. I'm careful not to wake him as I shift so we're both laying down. I take my crown and jewelry and set it on the bedside table and I toss my top onto the floor before wrapping him back up into my arms and laying with him. I kiss his cheek before falling into a light sleep. I'm awoken several hours later by a light knocking on my door.

I look up to see Seto quietly coming in and shutting the door. "My Pharaoh. The guards are ready to give you their report. I told them that you're a bit preoccupied with your injured lover, but I also said I'd talk to you and ask if they could do it personally," he says. I nod and slowly untangle myself from him. After I get up, he reaches out in his sleep for me. I find my body pillow and give it to him and he smiles in his sleep and hugs it continuing to sleep.

"Stay with him Seto. In case he wakes up. If he does tell him I'll be back quickly," I say and he nods. I walk out the door and the guard leads me to where they are standing at attention. "Alright you wanted to tell me personally so make it quick so I can get back to my lover," I say. One of them steps forward and bows in respect. "My Pharaoh I speak for all of us when I say that we feel dreadful about letting your lover slip through our fingers like that. We will not let it happen again and will see to it he is guarded more carefully when he chooses to go out," he says.

"Thank you and know this. That wasn't your fault. He was out of any of our reaches when he was taken," I say. He nods. "We have a report on Brad. We stuck him in the cells with the harshest of criminals like you asked. We can say that he's been raped multiple times. Brutally. Even our strongest guards down there couldn't watch. We had to separate them otherwise they would have killed him before he could stand trial. I told them to be torturous but not to kill him. That honor should be yours My Pharaoh," he says. I nod at him. "Thank you. If this is all you have for me, you may return to your posts with concentration around my quarters. I won't have anyone trying anything while myself or my love is vulnerable. Also thank you all for everything. When I can, I will ensure each of you gets proper time with your families," I say.

They all bow and I take my leave. I walk in to see that Yugi was sat up with Seto sitting next to him. He looks up at me and reaches out for me. I walk down to him and hold him close. "It's alright my love. I'm right here," I say and kiss his cheek. "Sorry I just can't be without you right now," he says. "I know sweetie," I say. I look at Seto. "Thank you," I say. He nods and leaves us alone. "I won't be leaving you alone for a while," I say. "I don't want you to," he says. I smile and kiss his cheek. "Alright time for a bath and I'll send Seto for a meal for you," I say. He smiles and nods and I help him up and help him walk into the bathroom. He's still a bit unsteady on his feet so I sit him on the edge of the tub and I poke my head out my bedroom door to see Seto. 

"Can you go get Yugi and myself plates of food," I ask. He nods and rushes off to go get food. I go back to the bathroom to see he's undressed himself and I walk over and turn on the tub and start filling it with water and start undressing myself. I pick out our favorite bath bomb and throw it in and gather our bath supplies and set them on the side of the tub. We get in the bath and start bathing each other in comfortable silence. "Atem," he asks. "Yes Yugi," I say. "Thank you for everything," he says. "I'll happily do it all over again for you," I say.
