You let out an exhausted grunt. You've been laying here unable to sleep for hours now. Your body was telling you that you need sleep but you couldn't get your mind to do the same. There was nothing on your mind in particular, your mind just seemed to want to stay up. Well there was one thing...

Your boyfriend, Diego, is leaving to go on a horse race that is gonna last months! So of course as that day approaches you're gonna be restless. Just thinking about it made you scared. You weren't ready to see him go and for so long. It was a dangerous race at that. You didn't know what could happen to him. It's not that you doubted his racing skills, it's just that you can't help but be nervous.

He was right next to you sleeping happily... for now. But what if it won't be like that after the race? You still had 3 weeks before he even had to leave but that thought was always plaguing around your mind. The more you thought about it the worse you felt. All of a sudden, you felt tears start to stream down your face. You tried to stop but your emotions overpowered you. You let out sobs, trying to be as quiet to not wake the sleeping man beside you.

Your voice hitched as you felt the blanket move from next to you. A small groan was let out from the man behind you as his eyes fluttered open. You didn't mean to wake him up and you didn't want him to see you as this sobbing mess.
"(Y/n)?" You remained silent as his arm came up and wrapped around you. He put his head close to yours. "Are you okay?" You wipe the tears from your face and turn around to face you. You looked him in the eyes and started crying again. He pulled you into him as you nuzzled into his chest.
"I don't want to see you go..." You choked on your tears as he was circling his hand on your back, trying to comfort you. "I-I'm gonna miss you! What if you don't come back to me?!"

He gave you a reassuring squeeze and spoke in a silky whisper.
"(Y/n), you don't need to worry about anything. You can count on it. But you really need to get some sleep. You have work early in the morning." You pulled your head back to look at him in the eyes.
"B-but wha-" You were abruptly cut off by Diego's finger on your lips. He cupped your wet face in his hands and brushed your (h/c) strands out of your face, locking his bright blue eyes with your (e/c) ones.
"There's no what ifs. So get some sleep because you need some." You rested your head back on his chest curled up next to him. He kept rubbing your back till you were finally able to get to bed in the arms of the person you loved most. But what you didn't hear was what he whispered to your slumbering silhouette.
"(Y/n), even though if I don't show it, I care about you. Forever and always. I love you more than anyone could ever comprehend. It'll be fine. I'll be back. So for tonight, sleep tight~"

Thanks for reading this. I've had it planned for a while but was way too lazy. I've also been trying to catch up to JoJolion and I almost am. I have like 20 chapters left. Anyways I have more oneshots planned... But they're Diego oneshots! Yeah I know. But Diego is actually best boi so... In all honesty, one of them is kind of a joke but the other one is not.
