Chapter 11 : Day 19

There is vigorous knock on the door, Sati rises up suddenly. She gets down immediately from her bed stumbling walking towards the door. The knocking on the door is getting louder and the person outside getting impatient.

Rati is standing with her arms crossed with two maids behind.

Sati puts her hand in the air to slack her body then asks, "You almost scared me Jiji. What's up for today?"

Rati moves her face instructing the maids to keep the dishes with breakfast in Sati's room. Maids put down the breakfast walks out. Rati says, "It's 9.30 already and you are still sleeping."

She sighs looks at Sati then continues "Now get up or else Dadisa is going to be very displeased with you today."

Sati innocently questions, "Why?"

Rati answers frowning her nose, "Our in-laws are coming so you need to dress up quickly. They could be coming any minute now."

Sati haphazardly says, "Why are you informing this to me now?"

Rati puts her hand on both cheeks of Sati, "I don't get up late, beside when I woke up Dadisa told me in morning that they would come around 9 or 10. I sent few maids to wake you up, but they got busy I guess in kitchen."

Rati pauses looking at her nude face kisses her forehead says calmly, "Now get ready real quick. Wear the dress Shiv sent you yesterday and don't forget to have your breakfast. Okay!"

Sati nods yes while Rati leaves. Sati closes the door eats breakfast, walking in the bathroom splashing water on herself. She drapes herself in the towel looking in the bathroom mirror for few moments walking out.

Sati walks towards the dresser where Rati had placed the dress which Shiv sent her. She wears the red dress puts bindi, red and golden bangles. She pins the duppatta reaching the door.

She breathes opening the door to see Rudra standing. Rudra sighs loudly to which Sati replies, "Move."

Rudra, "Dadisa said that you need to wait for few minutes in your room before she calls for you. They are sitting in the main hall along with Rati."

"Fine" Sati replies coldly closing the door.

After fifteen minutes pass there is knock on Sati's door. She opens to which Rudra says, "They are calling for you."

Sati follows Rudra down stairs till reaching it's end. She walks outside the main sitting area and stops. She pulls the duppatta on her head, stands for few moments waiting. She eyes Rudra without looking at him who's at distance from her.

She nervously looks at the door when Rudra slowly approaches her speaking, "Want my help? You just need to ask."

She abruptly answers, "No."

Walking slowly inside the room which is opened by one of the servants. Sati walks with her face up scanning the room she sees, a man in his mid fifties Jaiwant Singh is sitting beside Kanwar Singh, an elegant lady with fair skin sitting on the same sofa as Dadisa. Opposite to Kanwar Singh's sofa is Padminiji, Rati sitting beside her.

Sati walks towards Rati when the lady speaks, "Why don't you sit beside me!"

Sati looks at Dadisa who nods yes. Sati walks facing down approaching towards the sofa and sitting between Dadisa and the lady.

The lady holds Sati's both hands kisses them saying, "So you are the daughter of Bhairav Singhji and Rukmani Ji?"

Dadisa answers , "Yes she is, Sitara Devi Ji."

Sitara Ji speaks, "She just looks as the picture Bhairav Singhji showed us eight years ago, just she's little grown up now."

Dadisa laughs, Sati's throat is heavy and eyes start to fill with water when Sitara Ji says, "A princess never lowers her head remember Sati."
