Brady Manning

"So, what time are your friends coming round Brady?"

"Around twelve mom."

Both my parents were treading on thin ice around me, which was really starting to get on my nerves. They came to bed really late last night, later than normal, I knew they were talking about me.

When I came down this morning around half past ten, they were both ready and eating breakfast, as they were going out with my dad's work friends for the day. They were making small talk with me, which was not normal, and they both kept giving each other little looks. I tried to ask them what was wrong, but they cut me off straight away, with a 'nothing'. I knew it had to do with what happened last night, but now wasn't the time to ask.

"Well we're going to set off now, be good and try not to mess the house up. They can stay until five, but if they need to stay longer, to wait for their parents to pick them up, then you can order takeout. There are some numbers in the draw, and I have left you $50 in the pot. Ring if something goes wrong. Your dad and I will be back around seven, if it's any later, we'll let you know. Bye."

"Bye have fun. I'll be fine don't worry."

I shut the door behind them and tidied up the kitchen, which took me to 11.50 am. I went upstairs and put on a white and gold bikini, and covered up with my red 'Brooklyn Soccer Tournament' t-shirt, and some denim material shorts.

The doorbell rang downstairs, so I slipped on some ankle socks, and went to answer it. When I opened it, Roxanne and Robert were stood there hand in hand with a bag of Lays chips, and foot long Twizzlers.

"Thought we'd bring some snacks, and Jackson told us what happened, so we bought you your favourite flavour Twizzlers to cheer you up."

"Thanks you guys, strawberry is my favourite. Don't worry about me; it wasn't that bad of a fall. You can put your bags on the couch and come outside the back."

We walked through the kitchen to the back yard and Roxanne and I caught up on gossip, whilst Robert wasted no time and canon balled into to pool.

"Is it true that Cora moved to Arkansas?" I asked Roxanne.

"Yeah, she moved yesterday, that's why she wasn't in school. Did you find out through Facebook?"

"I saw her post this morning, so I messaged her and she told me her family moved to Arkansas. Quite -"

My reply was cut off when Robert came back outside, followed by Jackson, Amelia, Sarah, and Skylar. I had been so into Rox and I's conversation, that I hadn't realised Robert had answered the door. In fact I hadn't even heard the doorbell.

"Hey guys, you can go in the pool, I'm guessing it's warm, seen as Rob hasn't complained."

Jackson came over and hugged me, making sure I was okay. Bruises hadn't formed on my stomach, but I had a cut on my lip, and chin, and a bruise on the side of my eye. They were visible, but nobody had questioned why they were there, so I guess Jackson told them all. Robert was giving Jackson a look, which he was ignoring, but I guess it's because he has a girlfriend, and he's hugging another girl. They must be a protective bunch. I wasn't too bothered, I knew that I could trust them, and go to them with any problem.

"Sarah where's Alex?" I didn't even notice that he wasn't here. Speaking of not here, neither was Austin. I guess I was hoping he would come so that we could talk about the argument. I was kind of bummed; I really wanted to see him.
