What I've learnt over the years is to expect the unexpected, but nothing could've prepared me for this. I didn't even know what was happening, the feeling inside of me was what one would describe as, butterflies. Butterflies? What?

Austin's golden green eyes locked with mine, I don't even know where to begin explaining how I was feeling. It was like the world just came to a standstill.

Hush whispers, coming from the group of friends behind me, brought me out of my trance. I noticed Austin was still staring at me, with a wide smile etched onto his face. I looked down again blushing, my hair acting as a curtain to hide my face and to stop me from getting embarrassed more than I already had been.

"You're new right?" I looked up to realise that Austin had spoken to me. I probably looked like a human tomato, and I didn't understand what the hell just happened. The sparks. The butterflies. The way it feels like it's just us in the room.

"Yeah, I-i just moved from Brooklyn t-three weeks ago." Why was I stuttering? I've never stuttered in my life before! Not even when I was in 10th grade and had to stand up in front of most of the students and deliver a speech on why I thought I should become class president. Which I won!

"Brooklyn huh? Seems like a nice place. It's a pleasure to meet such a beautiful girl like you." He raised his hand to put my hair behind my ear and the same rush passed through me. I smiled at him and couldn't help but let out a slight giggle. My heartbeat started racing as he stepped towards me and embraced me in a hug. It felt right to be in his arms, I really didn't understand why I was feeling what I was feeling, but something told me that La Vernia wouldn't be so bad after all.

I managed to navigate around the school well, only getting lost twice, but somehow Austin always found me and walked me to the door of my next class. He was so caring and understanding, something I always looked for in a guy. He'd always find the need to touch me, whether it be putting his arm around my shoulder, or touching the base of my back. If this would have been back in Brooklyn, I would have already slapped him and told him to go bother someone else. But I liked the feeling of Austin caring for me, it made me feel like I fit in and was wanted.

The bell had just gone for the end of the day and I walked out of Mr Jakoby's Sports Science class with Sarah and Skylar. I'd met them at Lunch and found out they were Roxanne's best friend and Jackson's twin sister. Once we got out the door, we were met by Alex and Austin, who were obviously waiting for us. I inwardly smiled as I walked towards him, got on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek.

"Thanks for being such a help today, and showing me to my classes."

"Anytime beautiful, are you doing anything after school?" He nervously scratched the back of his head waiting for my answer.

"No, nothing important just going with my mom to the discount store then I'm free."

"Cool, maybe I could pick you up, around 5 and I could show you around a little bit, maybe go to the park and grab some food?"

"I'd like that a lot."

We switched numbers and I said I would text him my address. I was honestly shocked that we were so quick to start hanging out. I found myself wanting to always be near him, and I couldn't help but be a bit bothered by the fact that I wanted him. I had just met him, for heaven's sake.
