Ace

Chapter 1

September 1st, 2019

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Ace slammed his hand on his alarm clock. He shuffled up to the shower, still thinking about his dream. Just thinking about his dream brought a smile to his face. Waking up to Evangeline's smiling face was all that Ace ever dreamed of. Every morning, he woke up to the same disappointment when she was not there. 

Ace hadn't spoken to her since first grade. The second day of their friendship, and apparently their last. Ace had spent hours agonizing over why Evangeline had blocked him out and he still wondered. When they got together, he would most certainly ask her.

Ace got out of the shower and brushed his teeth while thinking of his Evangeline. He got dressed and hopped in his Audi R8 to head for school. He liked to be there early to check on Evangeline. She was almost always there before him though.

When Ace got to school, he parked his car and headed inside. Bella, the school slut, saw him and headed straight for him. Ace effectively dodged. He tried to stay away from all girls. When he got with Evangeline, he didn't want her upset about the rumors flying around about him. He made it clear he didn't want them, but they kept throwing themselves at him. Ace only wanted one girl, Evangeline.

He rushed through the hallways to the library. When he got there, he sat down a row behind Evangeline and stared at her. He thought about how stalkerish he looked, but he shook his head. He didn't care about what everyone said. He had a beautiful queen waiting on him.

Besides, if he sat with her she would probably move away or to an entirely new location. It was better for both of them if he just stayed behind her. 

It wasn't enough though. Ace wanted to hold her and kiss her and love her with his whole being. He wanted his dream to come true, but Evangeline was adamant about that not happening. Once again, he wondered why.

The bell rang, pulling Ace out of his thoughts. He walked behind Evangeline to make sure she got inside the class okay and walked in a few people after her. He had to watch her walk through the hallways because sometimes people made fun of her. Ace did all he could and being near her helped so he arranged to always be with her.

Ace shook his head and started sketching. After half an hour, Ace looked at the full picture to see he had sketched Evangeline. Again.

Not that he minded. His whole studio was full of sketches of her. It was like a bedroom shaped shrine in there. He just didn't know where he was going to put this new one.

After first period, Ace followed Evangeline to her locker to make sure all was well. He saw her get to the locker when Bella and her sluts walked up and surrounded her. Bella pushed something down and Ace moved to get a better angle. He wanted to make sure Evangeline was alright. Ace moved just in time to see Bella push the rest of Evangeline's books down. Evangeline's lip started to wobble and Ace sped over to them.

"Go the fuck away." he growled.

Bella turned around and saw him. Her glare turned into something that seemed to be trying for a sultry smile.

"Hey Babe! We were just talking about you!" Bella squealed and hugged herself to his chest. Ace looked at Evangeline and saw a look of hurt cross her features.

Ace almost smiled. She does care!

Then Ace realized that it was hurt that she was feeling and felt himself getting angry. He turned to Bella and told her to leave, using his Don voice. 

Bella's father was apart of the mafia too and Bella knew she had to respect him. Bella had looked slightly upset-maybe he had interrupted her?- But Ace didn't care, the only person he cared about was about to cry in front of him. 

Bella and her cronies walked away and Evangeline nodded at Ace. With that she ran off.

"Evangeline!" Ace called after her. But she was gone.

After school, Ace waited ten minutes at her locker in case she came back. She hadn't, which meant she was still in the school. Ace got worried. 

What if Bella had gotten to her again? What if she was hurt?

Ace decided he would go after her. He checked all of the girls bathrooms on that floor and then the next floor. He checked the cafeteria, the janitor's closet until he finally checked the library. He ran in upon seeing her.

"Stand up." he ordered. When she took a minute, He panicked thinking she was hurt. But when she stood up he looked her over to see she was not. He nodded. 

"You're okay." he said exasperated, trying to calm his rapidly beating heart. He had been worried, but he could see she was ok. Feeling a little awkward, he nodded and walked away.
