Chapter 2:
Football was a time Ace hated. It was all damn day- morning workout, 2nd period training, and afterschool practice. It was too hot and all Ace wanted to do was sit inside the weight room and pretend not to notice Evangeline's stares as he worked out. She hated PE and was always willing to let her mind wander and he loved when it wandered to him.
Today, though, they were training outside. It was going horribly. Ace was tired of yelling at the morons, but as team captain he was in charge of everything, except where they practiced.
His attitude did a complete 180 when he heard the giggles. It was the girl's PE class giggles. He whipped his head around so fast his hair hit him, not that he cared. There she was. His Goddess, looking incredibly sexy in the uniform. He rolled his eyes as the girls tried to subtly jump in front of his eyesight, but he was having none of it.
Then, he heard the dog whistles. He heard the name Evangeline come out of someone's mouth and a pained cry-probably Brett hitting the dumbass- and he was up and running at the team.
"Fifty laps, first one done does another" he barked. The team groaned but started running. That left him to sit on the bleachers and watch his gorgeous girl.
Evangeline was the cutest girl he had ever seen. They were playing soccer and she wasn't the least bit athletic. She was clumsy and timid and he could tell she could feel his eyes on her. She was blushing a bright red and it made him grin.
"Don't do anything stupid" Brett said as he came and sat down next to him.
Ace grumbled. "You're already done with your laps?"
"Nah, I just didn't want to do anymore." Ace looked up to a smirking Brett and rolled his eyes. He looked back to Evangeline just in time to see her trip and fall onto the ground.
Ace was up and running before Brett could stop him. He bent down to help her up and gave her a once over. She was fine.
"Are you ok?" he whispered. She nodded more stunned than anything. He let her go and walked over to the coach. "She's done for the day."
The coach nodded and called Evangeline over.
Ace walked back to his bleacher spot and watched to make sure she got inside alright.
