(Lily's POV)
The smell of fresh evergreen woke me up from a deep sleep. I turned to read the clock. I'd slept for almost 5 hours.
The fact that I slept for 5 hours straight in a complete strangers house scared me a little, but i wasn't even sure if I wanted to leave. After all, It helped me to forget about everything that happened in the last 24 hours.
But then reality hit me. My dad, Rose, Sarah, Sarah...SARAH! Everything that occurred that day came back slowly, but the situation with Sarah came back the slowest.
I vaguely remember much about the situation and what lead to what. I don't remember what was said or even how the situation came to be; all I could remember was the look in those brown eyes and the feeling of those soft lips.
I was startled when the door opened and a tall figure stood before me.
"Feeling any better sweetie?" Rose's mom asked.
She was wearing an apron covered in flour and a blue dishtowel rested in her hand.."Yeah, thank you so much for...this," I said, emphasizing the room.
"Oh, no problem. Rose mentioned to me you were feeling under the weatha so I jus' let ya sleep," She said.
'Well, I prepared dinna' if ya feeling up to it?" She offered.
Just thinking about eating made my stomach stir.
"Oh, I think I'll pass on that, but whatever it is, it smells delicious," I said.
"Okay honey. I'll bring you some crackas and some water," She said.
"Oh, no, it's okay, really," I pleaded.
"Honey, you cant stay at the Colombo's residence and not eat. It's a sacred rule!" She said, hurrying out of the room before I could turn down her offer again.
I chuckled at her ambition but that smile quickly faded when I realized I hadn't felt a parents genuine concern since my mom passed.
My mind wondered back to what happened last night and I cringed at the drunken words that left my dads mouth so effortlessly.
Before I could get deeper into thought, Mrs.Colombo walked into the room with a bowl of crackers and water.
"Here ya go honey," She said, sitting on the small, brown nightstand beside me.
Before I could say thank you, she was halfway out the door, and before I knew it, she was gone.
As much as I hated being in the room alone, I never wanted to leave. Right after Ms.Colombo left, Rose strode in: her black hair bouncing with every step.
"How ya feeling?" She asked with a huge smile on her face.
"Too soon to tell," I said, smiling back.
The obnoxious smile she wore on her face reminded me of an eager kid ready to tell somebody something they shouldn't.
I got a wide-eyed stare instead of a response.
"Uh...you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, you're just...stunnin," she said, shyly.
I didn't know how to respond. I wasn't surprised by her comment considering earlier's chain of events. Neither of us ever mentioned the situation, and honestly, I didn't know if I wanted to.
I didn't know if she thought we were a thing or not, but truth be told, I wasn't interested in anyone else other than Sarah right now, no matter how shitty she treated me earlier.
