I'm going to be switching up POVs throughout the chapter. I, again, want to remind you that most places and scenarios are made up. If you know such a place does not exist/ or what I'm describing is impossible to fathom, that's because it's made up. New York- in this case- is 2 days away (when driving) and Bradford is in California, Los Angeles. And in this instance, even though I know I said Anthony went to Dartmouth college, he is now in the university of California. Lynnette is in university of Seattle. All these places take two days to travel by car. Again, this is a multiple POV chapter. And let's get to it....
Scarlett's POV
I woke up early in the morning due to my annoying alarm clock. Oh wait, Jen is leaving for college today. Ughhh! I've been dreading this day. It's still 5am. I got up and made my bed. I tidied up my room and headed to the bathroom. I quickly went through my morning rituals and got dressed. The weather was slightly chilly today so I settled on wearing my black Nike tracksuit set. I wore a white Nike t-shirt inside. I zipped up my tracksuit top and wore my white high tops. I brushed my hair and tied it into a neat high ponytail. I put on some pink lipgloss and grabbed my phone along with a $100 bill. I stuffed them both into my pocket and headed downstairs.
"Morning parents," I greeted my mother and father as I appeared at the kitchen. "For a sad day, you're awfully cheery," my dad looked at me incredulously. "When I'm gloomy, you complain. When I'm cheery, you complain. You can't have your cake and eat it dad," I said as I rolled my eyes at him. "Cake," he muttered to himself. And he is a 41 year old lawyer, pft, I beg to differ. "Well I'm not complaining, morning honey. You look lovely. I was wondering when you were going to wear the tracksuit," my mom pointed out. "Pheonix is usually scorching mother," I answered as I sat down. "So what's for breakfast?" I asked, feeling my stomach rumble.
"Chocolate chip pancakes with some hot chocolate," my mom said as she placed a plate of 2 pancakes in front of me. She poured some hot chocolate and placed it at my left side. "Looks epic!" I exclaimed as I dug in ravenously. "She's her father's child," my mom snickered. "You bet I am!" I said as my dad held up his hand so I could high five it, which I did. My mom just chuckled to herself and sat down to eat some breakfast too.
By 6:30am I was already driving to Jen's house. It was days like these that I wished I had an actual car and not a motorcycle. It was really windy out. Amen to the tracksuit for keeping me considerably warm. I soon got to Jen's house. There were a lot of cars here. I guess I was the last one to arrive. I parked my bike up Jen's short driveway that was almost fully parked. I hopped off and took off my helmet. I hung the helmet on one of the handles of my bike and stalked up to her door. I rang the doorbell and it gave off a peculiar sound, Jen had for sure picked it when they went doorbell shopping. "Just a sec!" Jen shouted from the inside. It was then that I noticed that it sounded really chaotic in her house.
Finally someone opened the door, but it wasn't Jen. "Hey Scarlett, come on in," Eli, Jen's 12 year old brother, greeted as he stood aside for me to walk in. "Hey squirt. Where is Jen?" I asked him as I entered. "She's busy running around like a headless chicken," he snorted as he led the way. Typical Jen. "Of course she is," I muttered more to myself. I walked up to the kitchen where I found the whole gang eating breakfast. "Hey, why didn't I get invited? Looks like I'm not part of the breakfast club," I pouted in mock anger. Everyone stopped talking and turned to me. I started blushing as I realized that this is not how I would've usually reacted. I would've just stood here and waited until someone noticed.
"Hey, sorry. We came here early. As like at 3am because Jen wanted to check our luggage and what clothes we had. Control freak," Danny finally spoke up, making me sigh in relief. The silence was awkward and suffocating. Before I said anything Jen stormed in, she looked absolutely beautiful apart from her hair. It looked like she hadn't brushed it for two weeks. "What happened to opening the door?" I asked Jen as I folded my arms to my chest. "I sent one of the twins to welcome you in," she defended herself. "No she didn't!" Eli shouted from the, I presume, living room. I narrowed my eyes at her.
