Scarlett's POV
Its Monday, 20 December 2016. Which means its my birthday! I'm surprisingly not that thrilled about it, I've got mixed emotions. Hey, at least I'm awake to celebrate it unlike my eighteenth birthday. My mom would be working from home today so she would help with the decorations. The theme is...Disco chic! So the party is taking place at a different venue, not here. Jen was also coming over to help me decorate the Hall my mom hired. It was huge! And I mean huge. I don't know how many people my mom and Jen invited but I'm sure its not 300 people.
I woke up at 9 and darted for the bathroom to go pee. After that, I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Today I wore white skinny jeans and a light blue button up shirt. I wore white sandals and tied my hair into a neat ponytail. I went downstairs and found breakfast already made for me. Pancakes with eggs and bacon. I poured some orange juice for myself and ate my breakfast with my mom nowhere to be seen. After I was done with the delicious meal I washed the dishes and swept the kitchen floors. I knew exactly where my mom was so I went there. "Hey mom," I greeted her as I peeped my head in the study room we had. "Hey honey. Happy birthday!" She cheered and went back to looking at her computer. "Save it for the party mom. When is Jen arriving?" I asked her as I sat on the sofa my mom put in here. "At 11. Did you eat your breakfast?" She asked. "Yep, and it was delicious," I replied. I sat there for a few seconds looking at my working mom. "Well, I'll see you around mom," I said as I stood up to leave. "Okay honey, call me if you need any help, okay?" She asked. I just smiled and nodded.
I got out and looked at the time. It was 10:53. Jen should be here any - knock knock knock. Oh, speak of the devil. "Hey Jennifer, you're early," I told her once I opened the door. "Happy freaking birthday bestie!" She cheered as she launched at me with a bone crushing hug. "Uh Jen, I don't want my birthday to also become my deathday," I told her breathlessly. "Oh sorry. So how does it feel to finally be nineteen?" She asked as she got in. "Hmm I don't know, older?" I made it sound like a question. "Welcome to the club kiddo," Jen pranced along to the kitchen. "A person would swear it was your birthday," I told her. She was too enthusiastic. "Yeah, where's your groove at. Be happy Scar, its your birthday and we're throwing the best party in mankind!" She exclaimed as she raided my fridge. "Oh so Will Smith will be there with Robert Pattinson," I stated. "Oh Scar, you deserve an eye roll," she said as she eye rolled at me.
"Where's your mom?" Jen asked after she took two apples out of the fridge. "Study," I answered as I caught the apple Jen threw me. With no more words, Jen strolled down the hall to the study. "Hey Mrs mom," Jen greeted my mother. "Oh hi Jennifer, are you ready for project whoop whoop," my mom said. "Oh hell yeah," Jen replied making them both laugh. "Okay, well hop to it. We've got a lot to do, I'll arrive later to help," my mom informed as she went back to work. "Okay Mrs E, I'll see you in a bit," Jen said as she exited the study room. "Bye mom," I told my mother. "Bye honey, have fun," she told me with a smile. "Yeah, fun," I said sarcastically causing Jen and my mom to laugh.
Me and Jen walked out the house and towards the car. "So, when are you and my mom this... Friendly? I mean, you have nicknames for her," I asked curiously. "Well Scar, after the accident, you were in a life or death phase before you slipped into a coma, so we were each other's pillars," she answered. "Oh," I said. We got in the car and Jen started it and drove. She turned on the radio and the song one less problem ~ by Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea was playing. Jen sang to the song softly. I recognized it as one of the songs in my phone so I asked her something. "Did you update my playlist on my phone?" I asked her. "Yep, how'd you guess?" She asked. "Because I could barely recognise any of the songs, well some of them I could, the old ones but the songs made in my coma era..." I told her. She just nodded and bopped her head to the songs. After a few more minutes passed, the car came to a stop. "We're here," Jen informed. "Jennifer, don't you think I know that?" I sarcastically asked her. "Whatever Scar," she rolled her eyes at me. "And I'm the blonde bimbo," I mumbled causing Jen to laugh. The hall was huge and used for different functions such as proms, after parties, weddings and such, and in my case, birthday parties. "The gang will be coming later. "Yay," I sarcastically cheered. "What's with you and sarcasm today? Its your birthday for Pete's sake!" She exclaimed. "Yeah Jen, I don't expect you to understand. Let's just finish this project whipped or whatever it is," I said annoyed as I strolled inside the hall. "Its project whoop whoop and aren't you going to help me bring in the decorations?" She asked while carrying a disco ball. "I don't want to, let's just wait for our "friends" to help you. I am the birthday princess, I shouldn't be doing anything, " I told her, my tone harsh and irritated.
