Within 10 minutes Eli was outside my house. She parked her Jeep a couple houses down and then walked over to the tree outside my window. I left the window unlocked and then walked to my door and locked it. I doubted my parents would come into my room. My mom wouldn't even look at me, and my dad had already gone to bed. I sat down on the bed and watched as Eli climbed up the tree and opened my window and climbed in. She ran over to me and put both her hands on my cheeks. She turned my face left then right then down and then back up again. I grabbed her hands and said
"Eli what are you doing?"
"Making sure they didn't put a chip or anything like that in your head." I smiled for a second and then realized that my hands were on her hands. I pulled her hands off my face in shock.
"You got your cast off." I whisper yelled.
"Yeah I know." She said wiggling her fingers around, and then made some inappropriate gestures.
"Now we can fuck properly." I rolled my eyes and looked at the bed spread. For a second, I had forgotten that my mother thinks I'm a total disappointment.
"So, what happened?" The look in her eyes had grown serious and somber. I took a breath and started talking. By the time I was finished talking I was exhausted. I looked at the clock on my phone; it said 1:43. Eli looked at me and pulled me to her. She rested her forehead on mine and we sat like that.
"Your mom doesn't hate you."
"I know she doesn't. That's not what scares me the most." She pulled her forehead off of mine.
"What scares you most then?" Her gray eyes were staring at me, I stared into them.
"I'm scared they'll take you away from me." Eli grabbed my hands and looked at me.
"Thea, there isn't one person alive on this earth that could ever take me away from you."
"You promise?" I felt like a little kid asking that, but I needed to hear it. I needed her to say it."I promise you Thea." I leaned in her and kissed her. I pulled back and checked my phone. It was already two in the morning. We were laying down in bed talking still. We were laying on our sides facing each other. I felt my eye lids growing heavy, and I saw Eli's starting to close.
"Eli we can't fall asleep. My parents don't know you're here." My eyes were closed as I said this.
"I know." I don't know if her eyes were open or closed.
----------------------------------
I woke up to the sound of my door trying to be opened. I opened my eyes a bit and then realized it was locked. I didn't really care. I didn't want my mom or my dad talking to me. I rolled over on my side and felt a solid mass in front of me. SHIT.
"Thea honey open the door." It was my dad. I put my hand over Eli's mouth and started shaking her awake. Her eyes flung open and I heard her say 'what the fuck' against my hand. I put my finger over my mouth and told her to shush.
"Quick get in my closet." I saw her eyes glaring at me. I hadn't realized what I said until I said it.
"Just do it."
"Thea honey are you up yet?"
"Yeah dad give me a second." I tried to make my voice sound like I was still asleep and not in a blind panic. I rushed Eli into my closet and closed the door. I walked over to my door and unlocked it. I put on my best 'I just got out of bed face' and opened it. When my dad saw me, he gave me a small smile and said,
