Molly's POV
It's been about an hour since we noticed that Thea isn't here. Her parents haven't told anyone that she's not here. We've been trying to think of places she might go. We were all huddled around the island counter that's in the kitchen. No one seemed to need anything from here so it made a safe place to hide out and freak out. As her parents discussed where she might be and why she hasn't come back yet they kept skipping over the most obvious place she would be.
"Why would she just leave David?" Thea's mom asked.
"We both know why Nicole."
"I told you we should have just let her come David."
"You know why we couldn't do that." Lucy and I were standing around the counter listening to them argue. It was evident just how much they were worrying. The truth is Thea is fine, and she's probably just hanging out at Eli's, but that didn't really bring an ounce of comfort to anyone. It's a paradox. We know but we don't. After a few more minutes of them arguing I finally said something.
"She probably went to Eli's. Why don't we just call and see if she's there?" Both of them looked at me like this was something that seemed impossible and ridiculous. I looked at Thea's mom until her eyes softened a bit.
"Yes, please call her. I'm sure that's where she went." I pulled out my phone and started dialing Eli's number. I put the phone to my ear and let it ring.
"Hey Mol what's up?" She sounded confused and kind of irritated. She never calls me Mol.
"Has Thea stopped by there?" Everyone was staring at me.
"What? No. Isn't she at her surprise party?"
"No, she took off like an hour ago and no one's talked to her, and she doesn't have her phone." I saw Thea's mom look down at the counter as I said that.
"What do you mean she took off? Why would she leave?"
"I don't know. I think it's because you're not here." Thea's parents both looked like they wanted to cry. Eli was quiet through the phone. Mrs. Grant looked at me and gestured for me to hand her the phone, so I did.
"Hello Eli? Its Thea's mom. Could you come over? Maybe you could help us think of where she might be or where she might have gone...Okay." I looked at Lucy who was thinking the same thing I was. This was going to be bad.

Eli's POV
I've been in a pissy mood all day. I don't want to say that I'm butthurt that I'm not going to the party but I'm kind of butthurt. Mostly because I wanted to spend today with Thea. It sucks knowing that all our friends are going to see her today and wish her happy birthday but I'm not. Since I was in my head I decided to go to the basketball court that's near my house. Its only half a court and the nets basically 4 pieces of string hanging but it works. I did so many ball handling drills and so many running drills and whatnot that I started getting super pumped for summer basketball leagues. After I got tired and the sun seemed to be draining my body of all its energy I laid down on the court and threw the ball up in the air and would catch it with the opposite hand. I really loved having both my hands back. At around 1 or so I got a call from my mom saying that lunch was ready. I grabbed my shit and went back home. As soon as I got there my mom made me take a shower before I ate because my clothes were drenched in sweat. After I got out my mom served me my burger and let me eat.
"So why are you in a mood?" My mom asked me as I took a bite. This is really annoying.
"Thea's birthday is today." I groaned.
"Why aren't you with her then?"
"Her parents don't like me remember. They're throwing her a surprise party and I didn't get invited."
"That's so stupid. Why the hell aren't you invited? She's your girlfriend?"
"Again, her parents hate me and the fact that I turned their daughter."
"You make it sound like she's a vampire now."
"Well there was biting involved." I flinched and put my hands in front of me as my mom came closer to me. I thought she was going to hit me.
"Mhm you better get scared." I laughed and put my hands back down so I could eat my burger. After I finished eating my mom suggested we watch a movie. I figured since I had nothing better to do I might as well watch it with her. We were sitting on the couch watching some stupid chick flick when my phone started ringing. My mom rolled her eyes and paused the movie. I looked at my phone and saw Molly's picture pop up. I rolled my own eyes.
"Hey Mol what's up?" that was weird. I never call her Mol.
"Has Thea stopped by there?"
"What? No. Isn't she at her surprise party?" My mom was giving me a confused look. I felt the same way she did.
"No, she took off like an hour ago and no one's talked to her, and she doesn't have her phone." My heart was beating out of my chest.
"What do you mean she took off? Why would she leave?"
"I don't know. I think it's because you're not here." I stayed quiet. I felt so many things starting to rise in me. This is all wrong. She should be at her party having fun, but because of me she's gone MIA. I heard some shuffling through the phone and then I heard Mrs. Grants voice.
"Hello Eli? Its Thea's mom. Could you come over? Maybe you could help us think of where she might be or where she might have gone?"
"Yes ma'am, I'll be there in 20 minutes." I felt so awkward talking to her mom now. That's the first time she's ever talked to me since she found out about us. I started getting up from the couch to go to my room and change when I heard my mom call me back.
"What are you doing?"
"Thea skipped out on her party and no one knows where she is so I'm going over to help find her."
"Por que necesitan tu ayudar."
"Pos ella es mi novia, la amo." My mom's Hispanic, in case you were thrown off by my last name.
"Fine go ahead, but I'm watching the movie without you." I rolled my eyes
"Fine, but if Thea comes by call me."
"I know I know." I went upstairs and put on some maroon shorts and a black tight tank top that shows off my belly button. It is a party after all.
