Before the accident

Chapter 2

Walking out of the court house with sawyer in my arms. Only 3 years old and she chose to be with me. I really hope she doesn't regret her decision later in life, I hope she loves me just as much or even more than I love her. I walked over to Leigh's car to get her car seat and talk over when I'm coming to get her stuff.

Me-hey... thank you for what you did I know it must of been hard?....

Leigh- It was at first....but then I saw how happy you make her and I knew that was something I couldn't take away.

Me-maybe you could come and visit her?

Leigh- yeah. I would like that. I send all of her clothes and toys to your house I leave her bed since she got one at your house.

Me-thank you! you can say goodbye if you'd like she's I'm the car.

Leigh walked over to Sawyer who was sitting in the car waiting on her car seat.

Sawyer- mommy! daddy says that I'm gonna live with him forever! isn't that totally cool!?

Leigh-(began to cry) yes baby it is. I love you! be good for daddy! okay? I love you!

Sawyer- okay, bye mommy!

Me- hey don't cry! she's 3, she doesn't know any better.

Leigh- I know but it's for the best that she's with you. somebody who has their life together and not all over the place like mine.

Me- hey...shhhh! remember just a few short years ago I didn't have my life together. I was on drugs and always drunk, until you called and told me that I was gonna be a father. I didn't just clean my act up for her or you it was for me because I needed to.

Leigh- yeah. I remember! but you should go before I take her back. oh! and here's her car seat.

Me-thank you again.

Leigh- you're welcome and just because we had one nice sentimental moment doesn't mean I don't still hate you!

Me-right back at ya!

I buckled the car seat in and finally making my way out of the parking lot when Sawyer said she was hungry so I took her to McDonald's down the street. I have to find a good paying job because being a taxi driver isn't gonna pay the bills any more.

Sawyer-daddy what's your favorite color?

Me-blue. what's yours?

Sawyer-blue too!

I turned on the radio and started to think about how cute my daughter is. Ten minutes ago her favorite color was yellow and just because I told her my favorite color was blue she said that it was hers also. She has the longest blonde hair I've ever seen on a three year old. She beautiful just like her mom. When we arrived at my house she ran up to her room and came back down stairs.

Sawyer-daddy, where my toys at?

Me-your mom is gonna send them to us later.

Sawyer-okay can we watch Nemo?

Me-of course we can...

Trying to find the movie we hadn't watched in ages, but I did in the very far back corner of the cabinet. When I put the tape in the VCR Sawyer got excited. I laid down on the couch and she came and jumped on me. she cuddled up to my chest and fell asleep not even 5 minutes into the movie. I picked her up and took her to her room and tucked her in.
