Miley

"Cyrus. Get in here." Donny called fron his office behind the kitchen.

I sat my tray down and walked into his office. "What's up?"

"Cyrus. Your a great person." He scratched the back of his head. "And I really do appreciate all the work you having did for me."

"Did?" My eyebrows rose with word.

"I'm sorry Cyrus. But I'm going to have to let you go."

"DJ, are you serious?" I was shocked. "I've been working with you for years. You can't just fire me out of the blue! What did I do wrong?"

He scratched his head. "It's nothing, I just can't seem to find much use for your service."

"What?" I stood up. "That makes no sense, we're friends."

"We're not friends Cyrus. I was your boss, and you were my employee. I'm sorry."

I left his office in shock and frozen.

Lea came walking up to me. "What happened?" She asked.

"I got fired." I said.

"What?" Lea was as shocked as I was. "He can't do that."

"Yes he can. He was my boss, and I was his employee." I rolled my eyes in frustration. "I need to call Darren, and let him know I'm coming home a few hours early."

"Or you can just surprise him with a bottle of wine and Victoria Secret underwear." Lea giggled, her stupid giggle.

"You know what, maybe not working here with you is a good thing." I say raising my eyebrows in agreement.

"Wow, that was mean." Lea says as she hurries off to her next table.

I put my apron on my hook for the final time and walked to my car in confusion. I just got fired. I didn't do anything wrong, if anything, I was the best employee.I wasn't rude to any costumers, I smiled all the time, I gave people extra ketchup!

"Miley!"

Someone called behind me and threw off my concentration. I turned around and my jaw dropped. "I thought you left?" I blurted out.

"Nice to see you too." Nick said. "We need to talk." He walked over to me.

We did need to talk. But I wasn't sure if I'm able too. What do I say? 'I'm sorry I kept your children from you, but you had it coming for being an asswipe.' I clutched my car keys in my hand. "Yes, Nick we do."

"But not here." His face was hard.

"I'll meet you at your place."

Even though Caleb and Niles were exposed, I still got chills about Nick wanting to go to my place. I better not call Darren. I'll let the boys stay over there a little bit longer. Having all of them in one room together wasn't something I'm ready to do.

"Do you want anything?" I ask once we both walked through the front door of my apartment.

"No," he said. "We just need to talk." We sat on the couch. "Where are the boys?"

His voice was low and he didn't make eye contact. "Next door. They usually go to Darren's while I work."

"Okay." It was quiet. Time passed between us. We both quietly sat on the couch.

"Nick, what is this about?" I broke the silence.

"I need you and the boys to come with me." He finally looked at me. He kept his eyes on mine. Not breaking, the painful, eye contact.

"What?"

"I need you and the boys to come with me." He repeated again. Slow and carefully this time, as if I didn't know english.

"Go where?" Why did I even ask that question. "Nick, me and my children aren't going anywhere."

"Okay." He stood up. "Have it your way. I tried to go the easy way."

"What do you mean?" I stood up, demanding eye contact.

"I tried to go the easy way."He repeats. "I thought you would rather just leave with me instead of having to go through all the legal trouble, but have it your way. See you in court." He started towards the door.

"Nick, what the hell are you talking about?" I walked after him.

"I'm talking about going to court, to win custody of my children."

I felt my stomach drop. "Custody? You can't take my children away from me."

"Why not? You took them away from me." He kept his gaze on me.

I was speechless. "Nick please, they're all I have. You can't take them away from me. I couldn't tell you about them because I was

afraid." I felt the throat start to burn, I tried not to cry. "The judge won't let you take them from me."

"You took them from me." He raised his voice. "Eight years of they're life. I will never get back, ever. They don't even know who I am. You think the judge won't take that into consideration? The fact that you work late hours? Dropping them off to the neighbor? All that is evidence for me to get full custody."

"I'll tell her everything. I'll tell her about that night. What you did, why I left."

He chuckled nefariously. "I'll show her our text messages. How we met up everyday. How you said you loved me. There was no sign of hatred. You wanted me just as much as I wanted you."

I slapped him. "I never wanted that. You ruined my life." I was pissed now. "You took me away from my family, my friends, and my future. Kevin was right. I should have left you when I had the chance. You wasted your life and dragged me with you."

It was silent. We didnt say anything to each other. I wiped my eyes, and sniff back forming tears.

"Tomorrow. 1:30pm. I'll stop by again . If you and the boys aren't ready. We go to court to fight for custody. " He left my apartment.
