Nick
“Did I do it right, Dad?” Caleb asked me well keeping his eyes on the fishing pole.
At first I didn't know he was talking to me. I wasn't used to being called Dad. I examine the way he threw his fishing pole into the water. It was throwned into a nice spot he held it tight and steady. “Yeah, you did it great Caleb.”
“When will the fish come in Dad?” He asked.
“They'll be coming soon. All we have to do is wait now.”
“For how long?” His excitement died down.
“I'm not sure buddy, just until someone bites.” I threw my fishing pole into the lake in a different spot from Caleb. Caleb started to giggle next to me. I turned to him. “What?”
“What if we caught a shark?” He asked. A few moments of silence passed between us before we both started laughing.

Miley“Can we use this one?” Niles held up a baking pan, this one bigger than the last one.
“Yes that will work perfect.” I took the pan from him to pour the cake batter into the pan. There was a knock at the door. “That's probably Nick and Caleb back from fishing.”
“I'll get it.” Niles ran into the living room.
I finished pouring the cake batter into the pan, scraping the sides down and entering everything into the pan.
“Mom?” Niles came into the kitchen.
“Yes hun?”
“It wasn't Dad and Caleb.”
I sat the bowl down and wipe my hands clean. “Who was it then?” I started towards the living room.
“I don't know,” Niles follows behind me. “I said 'Hi' and he didn't say anything back.”
I pull open the front door and almost faint.
“Miley?” Joe asked, pulling me into a hug.
I hug him back, in disbelief that's it's really him. But it was. I take a deep breathe, trying to hold back the tears.
“I can't believe this.” Joe was breathless. We pulled away looking at each other laughing. “How have you been?”
“Good.” I nod, “I've been good. You?”
“I've been worried about you.” He squeezes my hand. “I've been calling Nick like crazy, but no answer. So I just came to see if everything was alright.” He turns to Niles.
“Niles, come here sweetie.” Niles walked over to us. “Niles this is Joe. Nick's brother, and you and Caleb's uncle.” Niles smiles.
“Hey Niles.” Joe lowered himself, to be face to face with Niles. “Cool name.”
“Thanks.” He smiles, shyly. “Joe is a cool name too.”
“Thanks.” Joe looks up at me. “He looks just like Nick.”
I laugh, “I know.”
“Where is Nick?” Joe asked me.
“Out in the middle of the lake. Fishing with Caleb.”
