Chapter Five~ The Encounter

Miley

     What is he doing here? And what did he do to himself? He's hair was gone, his body was huge. I got goose bumps just looking at him.

     “Yup, he's defiantly going to get it now.” Lea says, holding up his cup. The spirte was a shade darken, and grogged.

    “What did you do?” I say with my eyes on the cup.

    “I added some vinegar, salt, and bleach.” She said smiling proudly.

    I took the cup from her. “Stop it.” I walk over to the sink, and pour the contamination out. “Are you trying to go to prison?”

    Lea's eyes lit up. “That's it, prison! We can call the cops and get him locked up.”

    “Shh!” We both rush back over to the window. “Switch shifts with me. I'll serve side rear, and you take front.”

    Lea smirked, “Deal. And don't be surprised when he drops dead.” She filled a new, fresh cup of sprite and went to serve Nick.

    I grabbed my NotePad and went to the side rear. “Hi, um, are you ready to order?” I ask the first table, with my mind still on Nick.

   “Your number wouldn't happen to be on the menu, would it?”

   The voice was too familiar. “Liam, hey.” I smile at him. I had honestly forgotten all about him.

    “Hey, I hope I'm not to late.” He said smiling adorably.

    “Late for what?” I say, looking back to check on Lea and Nick.

    “Our lunch date.”

    His words caught my attention. “Shit!” I slap my hand over my mouth. My actions caused him to laugh.

    I chuckle along with him, while shoving hair behind my ears. “Yeah, I um, forget all about that.” I turn back to Lea and Nick to see Lea growing annoyed. “Um, todays is not a good day.” I turn back to Liam.

   “Oh, it's not?” He says with disappointment in his voice. “Gosh, I was really looking forward to today. I paid extra at the daycare and everything.”

     “Daycare?”

    “Right, I knew I was forgetting something.” He shifted in his seat. “I'm a single father. To a little girl, and I know most woman kind of run away from single parents but..”

     “No, I'm a single Mom.” I blurt out.

     “Get out of here, you are?”

     I nod, “Two twin boys.”

     “If you don't mind me asking, did the father die?”

    Nope, he's sitting right across the dinner. “No, I left him.”

   “Same here, I had to leave my ex- wife. You never know how tore down and messed up people are. The same person who swore would never break your heart or hurt you, caused you the most pain.”

    “Yeah," I turn back to Nick and Lea. They were now arguing. Part of me wanted to walk over there, other part of me didn't. “I could really use a break,” I thought out loud.

   “Perfect.” Liam smiled a flawless smile as I sat down.

   “Cyrus!” DJs voice was behind me.

   “Yes?” I sighed.

   “What are you doing? Do you know how late you were? You get no breaks. I need you to get back to work.”

   “Of course.” I lift myself.

   “Our date can wait.” Liam said, lifting himself along with me.

  “Date?” DJ raises his eyebrows in surprise. “Your on a date?” He looks from me to Liam. “Alright, tell you what. You finish up the last three tables in the front rear and you can have your date.”

    My eyes pop out of my head. “No, no it's ok-”

    “That's perfect.” Liam spoke for me.

    “Lea, is doing front rear.”

    “And she's doing a horrible job,” he gestures  towards Lea and Nick who yelling at eachother. “I just need you to straighten everything out, calm the customers and you can have your little lunch date. I'll even let you leave early to get home to your kids, because it's going to thunder storm tonight.”

     I took a deep breath. I look over out the dinner window at the gray clouds. I think of Niles. “Okay. I'll take the front rear.”

    “Your a life saver Cyrus.” DJ winks at me before walking away.

   “I'll wait here, for our date.” Liam called behind me. I nodded without looking at him.

    I took a deep breath and swallowed the lump in my throat. Nick's table seem farther than its actually was. Every step I took closer to him, felt like a step being taken in quicksand. My knees felt heavy, yet my stomach was light and empty. I felt like I was going to pass out any second now.

    “You are the most disgusting human being I've ever met in my entire life.” Lea said walking away from him. “Are you serving him?” Lea asked as I approached her.

     “Yes. I am.” I say, gulping again.

    “Call if you need me.” Lea said walking into the kitchen. I continue to Nick's table feeling sleepy and light weight. As I approach closer to him, I'm able to smell his scent.

     “Are you ready to order?” I manage to say.

    “Are you ready to order?” He spoke with his tongue, mocking me. “About fucking time.” He flips though the menu. “Just give me a cheeseburger. No mustard.”

     Of course, Nick hates mustard. At least his burger taste didnt change. “And a diet Coke?” I guessed, knowing his favorite soda.

     He looked up at me, “How did you know-” his face melted from anger to shock. And mine did too. “Miley?”

    I know!! It's soo short, and I'm taking forever to upload chapters. Please don't hate me

    I started school again and I'm busy all the time. School, work, homework, then repeat. I miss SUMMER VACATION!!
