“Honey, I'm home.” I jokingly yell throughout the house. “Dem? You here?” I question once I get no response.

I walked into the kitchen to find Demi at the table, surrounded by papers and receipts. “Oh,” I say once I see her. “You are home.” I walk over to the fridge and pull a soda out.

“I don't get it.” she slams her fist down on the table.

I leaned against the counter, took a sip of my coke and watched her stress over what ever ahe was doing. “Working on a new case?” I guessed.

“Yes, I am actually. The case of the missing bank money.”

I almost spit out my coke at her words. “Missing money?”I wipe my mouth.

“Yes, we have money missing.” She sat down all the papers and made eye contact with me. “I went to the grocery store, and bought all this food for today. Swiped my card, and it was canceled.” She ran her hands through her hair, frustrated. “I was so embarrassed. I held up the whole entire line, people were looking at me as if I didn't have a job. It was horrible.”

I sat the can down. “Relax,” I say to her, even though I was the one nervous. “We will figure this out.”

“Damn, right we are going to figure this out.” She got up from the table and grabbed the house phone.

“What are you doing?” I asked her.

“Calling the damn bank to see, where they screwed up.” She froze. “Did you take any money?”

My mouth went dry. Do I tell her the truth? Lie? If I told her I took the money, she'll ask why. If she's ask why, she'll find out about Miley.

“No...” I thought outloud.

“Did you freeze any of my credit cards?” She asked.

I slowly shook my head 'No.'

“Okay, I'm going to call this bank, and let them know,” she dialed and put the phone to her ear. “I am a lawyer, and I know my rights. they can't freeze my credit without any recognition of why.”

I gulped and swallowed the lump of air in my throat. I felt my skin standing up, and hot flashes around my neck. Demi is going to be so pissed I just said no when the bank tells her about the loan.

“Yes, hello.” Demi said. “I'm calling because my account was frozen and I-”

I jolted over to the counter, and presses the receiver down.

“What are you doing?” She asked me, confused and frustrated.

There wasn't any going back now.

“Ugh.. I took the money.” I said in all one breathe, and really quickly.

“What?” She sat the phone down and waited for me to repeat myself.

“I,” I took a deep breathe. “I, took the money.”

Her eyes grew wide. “Are you kidding me, Joseph?” She spoke sternly. “You just told me you didn't.”

“I know.” My voice was low.

“So.. You lied?” It was more of a fact then a question. “Your stealing and your lying now?”

      “I didn't steal, that's our money. I needed it.”

      “You needed it?”
