Minutes later, Royce's car pulled to a halt, the cold air from the vents cutting off. Felix looked up, only to realize that they had arrived at his house. He took a deep breath, his breath catching in his throat and causing him to cough. He had not expected to be brought to Royce's house. He could feel Royce staring at him as he kept his gaze in front of him. He slowly unbuckled himself and opened the car door, stumbling out of the car. Upon nearly stumbling, Royce quickly ran to the opposite side of the car, catching Felix in his arms before he could fall. Felix gulped and looked up at Royce, his eyes widening. He fumbled with his fingers as he stood against Royce's body, keeping his gaze on the pavement.
"Come on, my mom will be glad to see you," Royce said, closing the passenger door and pressing gently on Felix's back. As Felix took a step forward, Royce held out his hand, a small smile tugging against his lips. He could feel his face heat up as he took Royce's hand, his hand tingling with the mere touch. The smile that tugged against his lips only strengthened as he glanced at Felix, a small smile fighting its way onto his own lips.
Once the pair entered Royce's house, Felix's nose was hit with the wonderful smell of baked goods. He closed his eyes as he let the scent take over his body, a goofy smile plastering against his lips as he was hit with nostalgia, the sound of a soft chuckle escaping Royce's lips.
"Mom, I have a special someone with me," Royce called out as he bumped Felix's shoulder. He opened his eyes and looked up at him, butterflies fluttering in his stomach as he looked at Felix with a soft expression, heat dancing against his cheeks. He scrunched up his nose and stuck out his tongue, tearing his eyes away from Royce's intoxicating green eyes. Royce brought his hand up to Felix's hair and ruffled his already messy hair, causing Felix to turn around and tug on his arm, pulling his arm which caused Royce's body to fall forward, the two extremely close to each other. Felix stared into Royce's eyes, his mouth agape as he stared at his features closely, Royce's lips tugging into a mysterious smirk.
"Oh, Felix honey! How I've missed you," Grace rejoiced as she put a mixing bowl down on the counter, her bare feet tapping against the wooden floor as she ran towards them. Felix quickly pushed against Royce's chest, which caused Felix to tumble back, Royce's body staying fully still. Grace's short arms wrapped around his body, squeezing him extremely tight, which caused Felix to gasp for air. As she hugged him, he could see Royce with a saddened expression on his face. Felix furrowed his brows as he captured his expression, reaching his hand out and capturing his fingers, slowly tugging him closer. Felix took Royce's hand in his own and squeezed his hand lightly. Royce met eyes with Felix's, his eyes welling up with tears. He let out a nervous laugh and looked away, covering his face with his free hand. Felix's heart began to ache as he watched Royce tear up. "How have you been, Felix? How is your dad? Have you talked to your mom at all? Is Emily enjoying New York?" Grace grilled as she let him go, asking him more questions than he intended to answer. She twirled him around and cupped his cheeks with her hands and studied him closely, his hand slipping out of Royce's grasp.
"Uh, I have been..." Felix began, pausing as he thought about how he truly felt. I am in pain and very lonely. I have been in love with your son for a long long time. I am hurting, Grace. Hurting so much that I can barely handle it. "I have been fine, just living each day the best I can," He breathed out, telling the partial truth. He could hear the pain seeping through his voice, his voice cracking when he said 'fine'. He was not fine, anything but fine. "And my dad, he is... he is struggling, but I guess he is getting by." He looked back and made eye contact with Royce as he answered the second question, a worried expression showing on Royce's face. If he were to stare at Royce for an hour straight, his expression would surely change over a hundred times. He knows how to express himself and show every expression, while Felix did not. Felix was awfully good at hiding his expressions, for, he does not want anyone to know what he is thinking or how he feels. It is not that easy to hide them around Royce since he is very good at reading people; Felix especially.
