Outfit ^^^
Rhea's POVJasper didn't come that night. At least I think, he wasn't there when I woke up. I got dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans, a peach sweater, a grey scarf, and a pair of knee-high brown boots. Much to my surprise, Bella was making breakfast. She got down two plates and divided up the food.
"Thinking of me as always," I muttered sarcastically. I walked over to the fridge, grabbed a bottle of chocolate milk, and walked out. I texted Rose to see how Jasper was doing. She said that she would pick me up in fifteen minutes.
Dad came tromping down the stairs, clearly still half asleep. He saw breakfast on the table and he looked at me. I shook my head then he looked at Bella. Her gaze was focused on the food. I saw Dad's gaze soften slightly. I just scoffed and decided to wait outside. A set of small footsteps followed me.
"Rhea, can we talk?" Bella asked.
"If you're looking for an apology you can keep looking. I will not apologize for anything I said. They didn't just leave you, ya know. They left me too," I said looking out onto the street hoping to see Rose's car so I could escape that conversation.
"I'm not looking for an apology... I want to give one. It was unfair of me to place the blame on you and I'm sorry for pushing you away these past few months."
"Apology not accepted. As far as I'm concerned you have never treated me as your sister. You acted like I was a parasite you had to deal with, scum beneath your beat-up sneakers. I will be civil, for Dad but we are done as sisters."
A familiar red car pulled into the driveway and I practically ran to the car. Rose gave me a warm welcome and then she drove to her house. I asked again how Jasper was but she just shook her head.
"I don't know what to tell you," Rose sighed. "It's like he's here but his mind never left that basement. Edward isn't much help. He's never here-"
"Just look for him at my house. Lord knows where Bella is he isn't far behind," I murmured.
"I just hope you can convince him to go hunt."
"I hope so too."
She pulled into the garage of her house and we exited the vehicle. Carlisle, Esme, and Ryan were standing in the living room with worried looks on their faces. Emmett vamp sped into the room with three jugs of what I assume is blood.
"What are those for?" I asked.
"In case you can't convince him to hunt. He needs to keep his strength, especially since Bella is coming over later. She has something that she wants to discuss with us," Carlisle answered.
I nodded my head before it was turned towards the elegant staircase. It was just Alice. "He says that he needs to be alone," she said joining her family.
"Too bad," I said before bolting up the stairs. A gust of wind brushed past me and Alice was blocking my path. "Move, Alice."
"No. You are going to respect his wishes and leave him alone."
"He is my mate and I am one of the only people in this family that can help him so I am only going to say it one more time, move, Alice."
"And as his best friend, I am telling you no. If you would like to wait a few hours be my guest but you are not going to see him."
"Emmett!" I hollered knowing perfectly well that he can hear our conversation.
"What?" Emmett asked.
"Can you please take Alice downstairs for me?"
"Sure." Emmett grabbed a hold of Alice and I calmly walked to Jasper's room. Once I was inside I locked the door. The loud sound echoing in the silent room.
"I told Alice, I needed to be alone," Jasper's gruff voice said.
"And like I told her, too bad," I said. His head whipped up to look at me. If he was human I would've thought that he gave himself whiplash. "I know what it's like to be stuck in your own head. When Matt and Jay first found me they wouldn't leave my side for a week straight. At the time I did everything I could to push them away. Thankfully they didn't listen. I didn't know it then but I would get stuck in my own head and I would go back to a very dark place. They told me that I tried to kill myself several more times that week and the kicker is that I don't remember any of it.
"My brain intentionally blocked it out. I'm not going to let you be alone because I know that you will go back and visit the basement when your mind begins to wander. I will instruct your family to not let you be alone for a second until you smile and actually mean it. We don't have to say anything or do anything but I am not going to let you be alone."
Jasper vamp sped in front of me. As much as it startled me I tried not to let it show. "Thank you." He wrapped his arms around my waist and he buried his head in the crook of my neck.
Eventually, we migrated to his bed. My back was propped up against the headboard and his head was on my lap. I let my fingers run through his hair as he held on for dear life to my other hand. Who knows how long later and Rose entered the room with a bottle of blood. She left it on his dresser and I nodded to her. I gently shook Jasper awake but he refused to move. I told him that he needed to eat and he agreed. He got up and brought the bottle back to bed and had a few sips before laying back down. I wasn't going to fight him on it. Esme peaked in a few minutes later and asked if we wanted anything. Before I could even get a word out Jasper spoke up. He said that he wanted hamburgers. They sounded good to me so I echoed his answer.
