Beth, Daryl, and Cailey stayed the night in the broken-down skyscraper, taking turns every few hours to keep a watch. The massive herd of walkers was gone by morning, with only a few stragglers trying to eat out of trashcans or climb into an open window down the street. So, the hunters decided to leave once the sun was rising.
Daryl and Cailey were swinging their bows out as they stepped out on the street, and Beth held tight to her knife. Daryl gestured with his head to the right of the building, and they ran off.
"Wouldn't it be best to search a few more places here for supplies?" Beth's voice was just barely above a whisper.
"I 'ad enough city for today," Daryl grunted. He kept on moving towards the open country roads on the side of the city, the two teenagers close behind.
There were no other words spoken as the trio raided a car of its hubcaps and a water bottle. Daryl kept them in his bag as they ran off towards the trees, and began searching the forests.
Beth, Cailey, and Daryl all hunted for what they could before setting up camp. They sat inside a circle made of fishing line tied to hubcaps, cooking up a snake. They were all cross-legged on the dirt and grass as they ate.
"I need a drink," Beth piped up after a long silence.
Daryl tossed a flask towards Beth.
"No, a real drink. Like alcohol," the blonde gave a small smile.
The two hunters ignored Beth while continuing on with their snake meat.
"Never had alcohol," Beth made a small comment. "Saw the entrance to a country club right outside the city."
There was more silence.
"All right," Beth began to stand, almost hesitant. "Well, you two enjoy your snake jerky."
The blonde stepped carefully out of the camp, and disappeared through the thick trees. Daryl made a near-silent sigh. Cailey ignored the situation entirely. Daryl nodded at her. "Get 'er."
Now, Cailey sighed. She left a bit of snake skin on a rock, picked up her bow, and stepped over the camp lines. Daryl stayed put where he was.
Beth was walking rather fast, but Cailey was able to tell which direction she had gone. Especially when she heard a small terrified squeal. Cailey pulled an arrow back as she rounded a corner of trees.
Beth was pulling her knife from a walker in front of her, but one grabbed her from behind. A third was waddling up towards the girl. Cailey let her arrow fly, and the walker behind Beth dropped. Cailey side-stepped over and shot the third, almost making it look effortless. The brunette silently picked her arrows up, the nodded to Beth. "Le's go."
Beth hesitated before following Cailey with a nod. The younger girl led Beth around a group of trees, then back through the branches.
Beth almost tripped over the fishing line before the camp. Cailey strolled on in, where Daryl still sat. "You brought me back," the blonde stated the obvious. Cailey ignored her. "Okay, well you two might be okay with staying in this camp and not doing anything, but I'm not. I'm goin' out for a drink."
Cailey snorted. "We nearly got killed last time we was out of camp. You gonna risk ya life for a drink?"
Beth stood up straighter. "I'm not staying in this shitty camp, you can't make me."
Daryl made another near-silent sigh, and Cailey had a considering expression on her face as if to say Well, actually.
"You can't," Beth stated, a little more annoyed.
