You know what I hate?

Monday mornings.

I mean how can you expect me to start off my week right if my week starts with a Monday?

I hit snooze on my alarm clock for the second time this morning and continue laying it bed just staring up at my ceiling, trying to find the will power to get out of my warm and cozy bed.

The smell of bacon and eggs seeps into my nose causing my tummy to rumble. I don't want to go to school but I will get out of bed for food.

Throwing my comforter off of my shorts and tank top clad body, I make a beeline for my bathroom to begin getting ready for the day.

The time on my phone reads 6:53. School begins at 8:00am so the knowledge that I still have plenty of time to get ready on time calms me as I begin my morning routine of washing my face and brushing my teeth.

My pimple on my forehead is gone and the realization makes me do a little happy dance on the spot.  I connect my phone to my Bluetooth speaker and set my Apple Music to shuffle as I get ready, just like every other morning. Music always seems to improve my mood. And heaven knows I need it if I'm going to make it through another day of school.

After putting on my light makeup that includes concealer, mascara & ever so slighting filling in my brows, I decide to just touch up my slept-in curled hair. After wrapping a few strands of my loosely curled hair around my curling iron to give a little more life to my curls I head over to my closet to pick an outfit for the day.

I settle for a black crop shirt and black skinny jeans that I pair with black espadrille sandals. The crop shirt leaves just a small sliver of my tanned tummy showing before the waist band of my cuffed skinnies begins. Checking that I have everything that I need situated in my school bag, I grab my jean jacket off of my desk chair and spritz some perfume on my collar bone and wrists before making my way down the stairs and into the kitchen where the delicious smell of eggs and bacon make my mouth water.

The time on the stove reads 7:28 and I let out a breath of relief that I'm perfectly good on time as I get a plate out of the cupboard to make myself a plate of breakfast.

As I'm biting into a piece of bacon, mmm bacon, my mom walks into the kitchen wearing a baggy T-shirt that belongs to my dad and a pair of grey sweats. Her hair is placed in a messy bun to match the look. It's barely 7:30am and my mom looks beautiful as ever. She hasn't gotten ready for the day yet but I've always thought she looks pretty in the mornings. A natural pretty. Whereas I always manage to wake up with bed head and tired eyes.

"Hi honey, good morning!" My mom beams at me. "You look cute today." She adds.

"Thanks! You like my new platform sandals?" I turn sideways on my chair so that I can lift my feet up to show her the shoes I got on sale while shopping with the girls.

"Very cute! I saw those at the mall a few weeks back and almost thought to buy them for myself but then remembered that your dad wouldn't be too thrilled about me randomly purchasing $50 shoes." She explains while pouring herself a cup of coffee. Moms got a point. My dad has never understood mine and my moms sense of fashion or need to buy things. Men.

"You can borrow them whenever. I got them on sale for $20!" I share my excitement of getting a good deal. My mom and I might like to shop but we like getting good deals even more. My mom says that when she started dating my dad and realized how cheap he is with money, she started to learn how to get good deals and be smarter with her money. Her parents have always been well off so she never had to worry about money growing up. Thanks to my dad's smarts when it comes to money and his great job that he works hard at, we've never really had to worry about money either. But we still like to save whenever we can and make a point to not be flashy with our money. We live in a normal sized home and drove regular cars. Everything that we owned was nice and good quality, we just didn't over do it.
